Governor Shaft

Installation

Place a flat washer on the governor shaft, against the

Lubricate the governor shaft with

engine oil:

Insert the shaft
in
the block of the engine. See Figure

Install a push nut retainer on the shaft to retain

Cam Followers

lnstallatlon
1.
The cam followers are both the same and may be used
in either the intake or exhaust position. However,
if
the
engine has been run and the cam followers are being
reused, they should be installed
in
their original posi-
tions to maintain existing wear patterns. Lubricate the
cam followers with
SAE
30
engine oil prior to assem-
bly. See Figure
80.

Camshaft lnstallatlon

Match the timing
mark
on the camshaft
with
the timing
mark
on
the camshaft drive gear on the crankshaft.

Lubricate the end of the camshaft with
SAE

engine
oil and install the camshaft.
Governor/Splasher Installation
1.
Install the governor
as
shown in Figure
82.
Make sure
the governor plunger is positioned against the gover-
nor arm and that the flyweights are free to move.

Turn the engine through
two
complete revolutions to
make sure
all
parts are free to turn.
Sump
-
Installation
1.
Install a new sump gasket.
2.
Lubricate the crankshaft with
SAE
30
engine oil and
install a seal protector on the end of the crankshaft.
3.
Slide the sump onto the crankcase of the engine.
4.
Install the retaining screws
and
tighten them to
85
in
Ibs
(9.5
N-m). as shown
in
Figure
83.
