Why are the cutting units on my Toro Lawn Mower lifting slowly?
    • L
      Lauren RiceJul 31, 2025
If your Toro Lawn Mower's cutting units lift slowly or not at all, several factors could be responsible. Start by ensuring the engine RPM is sufficiently high and that the hydraulic oil level is adequate. Inspect the lift arm pivot points and bushings for any binding issues. Also, check for worn or damaged bushings and cylinders. Other potential causes include improper counterbalance pressure, a faulty counterbalance valve, low lift relief pressure, a plugged cylinder orifice, a damaged lift valve, or a worn steering/lift pump. Address each of these potential issues to restore proper lifting function.

What to do if the reels on my Toro Reelmaster 4000?D are slow or won’t turn?
    • D
      Daniel TaylorAug 5, 2025
If your Toro Lawn Mower's reels are slow or not turning, there are several potential causes. First, ensure that the engine RPM is sufficiently high and that the hydraulic oil level is correct. Check the reel to bedknife adjustment to ensure it's not too tight. Verify the reel drive motor belt has the correct tension, and inspect the reel shut-off valves. Low reel system pressure, a worn priority flow divider, low flow to reel motors, or an inefficient reel motor could also be the cause. Adjust or repair components as necessary.

Why won’t the cutting units drop or follow ground contours on my Toro Reelmaster 4000?D?
    • J
      Joe AndrewsAug 10, 2025
If the cutting units on your Toro Lawn Mower won’t drop or follow the ground contours, several issues could be at play. Begin by checking that the engine RPM is sufficiently high and that the hydraulic oil level is correct. Inspect the lift arm pivot points and bushings for any binding. Also, look for worn or damaged bushings and cylinders. Other potential causes include improper counterbalance pressure, a worn or damaged counterbalance valve, a plugged cylinder orifice, a worn or damaged spool detent in the lift valve, or a worn or damaged lift valve. Repair or replace any faulty components.

    • I
      ibrownAug 16, 2025
If you experience steering loss with your Toro Lawn Mower, several factors could be the cause. If it occurs after washing, allow approximately 15 minutes for temperatures to stabilize. Inspect and correct the cylinder action. Other potential causes include low steering relief pressure, or a worn or damaged steering cylinder, steering pump, or steering control unit. Repair or replace any worn or damaged components.

How to troubleshoot slow or no traction in my Toro Reelmaster 4000?D?
    • D
      Don ClarkAug 21, 2025
If your Toro Lawn Mower is experiencing slow or no traction, there are several possible causes. Start by increasing the engine RPM. Check and fill the hydraulic oil to the proper level. Inspect and repair or replace the traction pump bypass valve if it’s open or damaged. Re-engage or repair the final drive if it’s disengaged or damaged. Tighten or replace the loose or damaged traction linkage. Check and rectify the charge pressure. Check and adjust the traction pressure. Finally, repair or replace the damaged or worn traction motors.

What to do if I see hydraulic oil leaks in my Toro Reelmaster 4000?D Lawn Mower?
    • J
      Joseph SmithAug 26, 2025
If you observe hydraulic oil leaks in your Toro Lawn Mower, it could be due to a loose or damaged fitting, hose, or tube. Correct the loose or damaged components. Alternatively, a missing or damaged o-ring could be the cause; in this case, replace the o-ring.
