1.Disengagetheblade-controlswitch,movethemotion
controlsoutwardtotheparkposition,stoptheengine,
andremovethekey.
2.Removegrassclippings,dirt,andgrimefromthe
externalpartsoftheentiremachine,especiallythe
engine.
3.Cleandirtandchafffromtheoutsideoftheengine
cylinder-headnsandblowerhousing.
Important:Youcanwashthemachinewithamild
detergentandwater.Donotpressurewashthe
machine.Avoidexcessiveuseofwater,especially
nearthecontrolpanel,undertheseat,aroundthe
engine,hydraulicpumps,andmotors.
4.Servicetheaircleaner;refertoServicingtheAir
Cleaner(page34).
5.Greaseandoilthemachine;refertoLubrication(page
34).
6.Changethecrankcaseoilandlter;refertoChanging
theEngineOil(page36).
7.Checkthetirepressure;refertoCheckingtheTire
Pressure(page42).
8.Chargethebattery;refertoChargingtheBattery(page
40).
9.Checktheconditionoftheblades;refertoInspecting
theBlades(page43).
10.Preparethemachineforstoragewhennon-useoccurs
over30days.Preparethemachineforstorageas
follows.
11.Addapetroleumbasedstabilizer/conditionertothe
fuelinthetank.Followthemixinginstructionsfrom
thestabilizermanufacturer.Donotuseanalcohol
basedstabilizer(ethanolormethanol).
Note:Afuelstabilizer/conditionerismosteffective
whenmixedwithfreshgasolineandusedatalltimes.
Runtheenginetodistributetheconditionedfuel
throughthefuelsystem(5minutes).
Stoptheengine,allowittocool,anddrainthefueltank.
Restarttheengineandrunituntilitstops.
Choketheengine.Startandruntheengineuntilitwill
notstart.
Disposeoffuelproperly.Recyclepursuanttolocal
codes.
Important:Donotstorestabilizer/conditioned
gasolineover30days.
12.Removethesparkplug(s)andcheckitscondition;refer
toCheckingtheSparkPlug(page38).Withthespark
plug(s)removedfromtheengine,pourtwotablespoons
ofengineoilintothesparkplughole.Usethestarter
tocranktheengineanddistributetheoilinsidethe
cylinder.Installthesparkplug(s).Donotinstallthe
wireonthesparkplug(s).
13.Cleananydirtandchafffromthetopofthemower.
14.Scrapeanyheavybuildupofgrassanddirtfromthe
undersideofthemower,thenwashthemowerwith
agardenhose.
15.Checktheconditionofthedriveandmowerbelts.
16.Checkandtightenallbolts,nuts,andscrews.Repairor
replaceanypartthatiswornordamaged.
17.Paintallscratchedorbaremetalsurfaces.Paintis
availablefromyourAuthorizedServiceDealer.
18.Storethemachineinaclean,drygarageorstoragearea.
Removethekeyfromtheignitionswitchandkeepit
inamemorableplace.Coverthemachinetoprotect
itandkeepitclean.
