6.Tightenallnuts,bolts,andscrews.
7.Touchupallrustedorchippedpaintsurfaceswith
paintavailablefromanAuthorizedServiceDealer.
PreparingtheFuelSystem
WARNING
Fuelcanvaporizeifyoustoreitoverlongperiods
oftimeandexplodeifitcomesintocontactwith
anopename.
Donotstorefueloverlongperiodsoftime.
Donotstorethemachinewithfuelinthefuel
tankorthecarburetorinanenclosurewithan
opename.(Forexample,afurnaceorawater
heaterpilotlight.)
Allowtheenginetocoolbeforestoringitinany
enclosure.
Onthelastrefuelingoftheyear,addfuelstabilizertothefuel
asdirectedbytheenginemanufacturer.Emptythefueltank
whenmowingthelasttimebeforestoringthemachine.
1.Runthemachineuntiltheengineshutsofffrom
runningoutoffuel.
2.Starttheengineagain.
3.Allowtheenginetorununtilitshutsoff.Whenyou
cannolongerstarttheengine,itissufcientlydry.
PreparingtheEngine
1.Whiletheengineisstillwarm,changetheengineoil
andtheoillter;refertoChangingtheEngineOil
(page18)andChangingtheOilFilter(page19).
2.Removethesparkplug.
3.Usinganoilcan,addabout30ml(1oz),ofmotoroil
totheenginethroughthespark-plughole.
4.Slowlypullthestarterropeseveraltimestodistribute
oilthroughoutthecylinder.
5.Installthesparkplugbutdonotconnectthewireto
thesparkplug.Securethewiresothatitdoesnotcome
intocontactwiththesparkplug.
RemovingtheMachinefrom
Storage
1.Checkandtightenallfasteners.
2.Removethesparkplugandspintheenginerapidly
usingthestartertoblowexcessoilfromthecylinder.
3.Inspectthesparkplugandreplaceitifitisdirty,worn,
orcracked;refertotheengineowner’smanual.
4.Installthesparkplugandtightenittotherecommended
torqueof20N∙m(180in-lb).
5.Performanyneededmaintenanceprocedures;referto
Maintenance(page17).
6.Checktheengine-oillevel;refertoCheckingthe
Engine-OilLevel(page10).
7.Fillthefueltankwithfreshfuel;refertoFillingthe
FuelTank(page9).
8.Connectthewiretothesparkplug.
