Why won't my Toro Mower engine start?
- ZZachary SmithAug 21, 2025
If your Toro Mower engine won't start, starts with difficulty, or doesn't stay running, several factors could be at play. First, ensure the fuel tank isn't empty and the fuel shutoff valve is open. Check that the oil level in the crankcase is adequate. For starting, position the throttle midway between “SLOW” and “FAST,” and use the choke (“ON” for a cold engine, “OFF” for a warm one). Also, a dirty fuel filter can cause issues, so replace it if needed. Inspect the air cleaner and replace if it's dirty. Check the spark plug wire connection and either clean, adjust or replace the spark plug. Lastly, check the seat switch indicator and replace the seat if needed, and ensure all electrical connections are clean and secure.
