14. AUTOMATIC DUPLEXING UNIT (ADU)
14.1 General Description
The Automatic Duplexing Unit (ADU) is a unit to automatically print on both sides of paper. A switch-
back method using the exit roller is adopted for the ADU of this equipment.
A sheet of paper is switchbacked by the exit roller right after the printing operation (fusing operation)
on one side is completed, and the reversed sheet is transported to the registration section for the other
side of the sheet to be printed.
The ADU mainly consists of the transport rollers and their drive system, paper guide and ADU en-
trance/exit sensor.
