This document serves as the Owner's Manual for the TOSHIBA AIR CONDITIONER (MULTI TYPE) Outdoor Unit, specifically for Heat Pump Models MCY-MHP0806HS8-E and MCY-MHP1006HS8-E. It is intended for commercial use and highlights the adoption of HFC R410A refrigerant to prevent ozone layer destruction. The manual is an original instruction, emphasizing the importance of reading it carefully before use and ensuring installation and maintenance are performed by qualified professionals.
Function Description
The Toshiba Air Conditioner is designed for multi-type applications, offering both cooling and heating functionalities. It operates as a heat pump system, gathering outside heat for heating purposes. The system can be controlled via a remote controller, which can manage up to 8 indoor units. Various indoor unit types are connectable, including 4-way cassette, compact 4-way cassette, 2-way cassette, 1-way cassette, concealed duct (standard and high static pressure), slim duct, ceiling type, floor standing cabinet, floor standing concealed, floor standing, and high-wall types, as well as console type and mid-temperature hot water modules.
The remote controller allows users to select operation modes (Heat, Dry, Cool, Fan), adjust fan speed (Auto, High, Medium, Low), and set the desired temperature. It also features a timer function (Off timer, Repeat-Off timer, On timer) for scheduled operation, with settings ranging from 0.5 hours to 7 days (168 hours). The louver direction can be adjusted for optimal airflow, with options for automatic swing or fixed positions, and specific settings for 4-way cassette 2H series to control individual louvers and swing patterns (Standard, Dual, Cyclic).
Important Technical Specifications
The outdoor unit models are MCY-MHP0806HS8-E and MCY-MHP1006HS8-E.
- Refrigerant: HFC R410A.
- Operating Conditions:
- Cooling Operation: Outdoor temperature: -5 °C to 46 °C (Dry-bulb temp.). Room temperature: 21 °C to 32 °C (Dry-bulb temp.), 15 °C to 24 °C (Wet-bulb temp.). Room relative humidity: less than 80%.
- Heating Operation: Outdoor temperature: -20 °C to 15.5 °C (Wet-bulb temp.). Room temperature: 15 °C to 28 °C (Dry-bulb temp.).
- Sound Pressure Level (dBA):
- MCY-MHP0806HS8-E: Cooling 58 dBA, Heating 59 dBA.
- MCY-MHP1006HS8-E: Cooling 59 dBA, Heating 60 dBA.
- Weight (kg): Both models weigh 147 kg.
- Electrical Work: Requires a qualified installer or service person for electrical work, adhering to local laws and regulations.
- Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker: Must meet local regulations, with over-current protection and manually resettable leakage prevention.
Usage Features
- Initial Setup: After turning on the power, the remote controller displays "SETTING" blinking for about 1 minute during initial settings.
- Operation Modes: Users can cycle through Heat, Dry (Dehumidify), Cool, and Fan modes. "Dry" mode is not available for concealed duct high static type.
- Fan Speed Control: Options include Auto, High, Medium, and Low. For concealed duct high static type, fan speed is fixed to "High".
- Temperature Adjustment: Set temperature can be increased or decreased using the TEMP buttons, but not in Fan mode.
- Timer Functionality: Allows scheduling of unit shutdown (Off timer), repeated shutdown (Repeat-Off timer), or startup (On timer) over periods up to 168 hours.
- Louver Direction: Adjustable for optimal air distribution. For cooling, louvers should be pointed horizontally to prevent dew formation. For heating, they should be pointed downward to distribute warm air effectively. Specific settings for 4-way cassette 2H series enable individual louver control and selection of swing patterns (Standard, Dual, Cyclic).
- Power Saving Mode: Can be initiated using the SAVE button.
- Ventilator Control: If a commercially available ventilator is connected, it can be turned on/off via the remote controller.
- 3-Minute Protection: The outdoor unit will not operate for approximately 3 minutes after restart or power-on to protect the system.
- Defrosting: Automatic defrosting occurs during heating if frost forms on the outdoor unit (2-10 minutes), during which the indoor fan stops.
- Fan Rotation of Stopped Indoor Unit: Fans on indoor units in standby mode rotate periodically (approx. once per hour) to protect the machines.
- Error Display: The remote controller displays error codes and indoor unit numbers in case of trouble, which should be reported to a qualified service person.
Maintenance Features
- Air Filter Cleaning: The remote controller displays a "FILTER" indicator when cleaning is required. For most models, a qualified service person should clean the filters. For floor standing cabinet and floor standing concealed types, users can remove and clean the air filters by vacuuming or washing with lukewarm water and neutral detergent.
- Indoor Unit and Remote Controller Cleaning: Wipe with a dry, soft cloth. For heavy stains, use a cloth soaked in lukewarm water. Avoid using benzine, thinner, or abrasive cleaners.
- Drain Pan Cleaning: Before the cooling season, a qualified service person should clean the drain pan to prevent waste accumulation and water overflow.
- Pre-Season Checks: Before extended disuse, operate the unit in "FAN" mode for half a day to dry the inside, then turn off the main power switch and clean the air filter.
- Periodic Inspection: Regular inspections by a dealer are recommended after long periods of use to check for deterioration or malfunction of parts, especially drainage.
- Safety Precautions: Always turn off the circuit breaker before opening the intake grille or service panel. Do not touch aluminum fins without protective gloves. Do not climb or place objects on the outdoor unit. Do not use the air conditioner for special purposes like preserving food or breeding animals.
