Function Description
The Toshiba R32 Inverter Air Conditioner is a split-type system designed for cooling, heating, and dehumidification of indoor spaces. It utilizes R32 refrigerant, an environmentally friendlier option. The unit offers various operational modes and features to enhance comfort and energy efficiency.
Operational Modes:
- Cooling/Heating/Fan Only Operation: Allows users to select between cooling, heating, or fan-only modes and set a desired temperature. Temperature ranges are 17°C to 30°C for cooling and heating. Fan speed can be set to AUTO, LOW, LOW+, MED, MED+, HIGH, or QUIET.
- Dry Operation: Automatically controls cooling performance for dehumidification. The fan speed is fixed to Auto in this mode, and the desired temperature can be set between 17°C and 30°C.
- Hi-POWER Operation: Provides faster cooling or heating by automatically controlling room temperature and airflow. This mode is not available during Dry and Fan Only operations.
- ECO Operation: An energy-saving mode that automatically adjusts room temperature. In cooling, the set temperature increases by 1 degree per hour for 2 hours (maximum 2-degree increase). In heating, the set temperature decreases. This mode is not available during Dry and Fan Only operations.
- SILENT Operation: Reduces the outdoor unit's sound level. While operating silently, the heating or cooling capacity is prioritized to maintain indoor comfort. This mode is not available during Dry and Fan Only operations.
- Automatic Operation: Automatically selects cooling, heating, or fan-only operation based on the set temperature and current room conditions.
- Timer Operation: Allows users to set an OFF timer for the air conditioner to automatically turn off after a specified duration (0.5 to 12 hours).
- Self-Cleaning Operation (Cool and Dry Operation Only): Designed to prevent bad smells caused by humidity within the indoor unit. When activated in Cool or Dry mode, the fan continues to run for 30 minutes after the unit is turned off, reducing moisture.
- Manual Defrost Operation: For defrosting the outdoor unit's heat exchanger during heating operation. This mode can be activated by pressing and holding the Hi-POWER button for 5 seconds.
Display and Remote Control Features:
- Indoor Unit Display: Shows indicators for ECO, Wi-Fi access (if an adapter is used), Hi-Power, Timer, and Operation. Display brightness can be adjusted.
- Remote Control: Features an infrared signal emitter, Start/Stop button, Mode select button, Temperature buttons, Fan speed button, Swing louver button, Set louver button, Off timer button, Hi-Power button, ECO/SILENT button, Clear button, and Check button.
- Display Lamp Brightness Adjustment: Allows users to decrease the brightness of the display lamp or turn it off, with four levels of adjustment.
- Remote Control A-B Selection: Enables separate control of two indoor units installed nearby by setting one remote to "A" and the other to "B".
Important Technical Specifications
- Refrigerant: R32. This appliance is filled with R32, which is a flammable refrigerant.
- Operating Conditions:
- Heating: Outdoor Temperature: -15°C to 24°C; Room Temperature: Less than 28°C.
- Cooling: Outdoor Temperature: -15°C to 46°C; Room Temperature: 21°C to 32°C.
- Dry: Outdoor Temperature: -15°C to 46°C; Room Temperature: 17°C to 32°C.
- Power Supply Disconnection: Means for disconnection from the supply having a contact separation of at least 3 mm in all poles must be incorporated in the fixed wiring.
- Batteries: The remote control uses 2 AAA-type batteries.
Usage Features
- Airflow Direction: The vertical louver can be moved to a desired position or set to swing automatically. Horizontal airflow is adjusted manually.
- Three-minute Protection Feature: Prevents the unit from activating for 3 minutes when suddenly restarted or switched ON.
- Preheating Operation: The unit warms up for 5 minutes before heating operation starts.
- Warm Air Control: Fan speed is automatically reduced, and the outdoor unit stops when the room temperature reaches the set temperature.
- Automatic Defrosting: Fans stop during defrost operation.
- Heating Capacity: Heat is absorbed from outdoors and released into the room. If the outdoor temperature is too low, supplementary heating is recommended.
- Consideration for Accumulated Snow: The outdoor unit should be placed in a location free from snow drifts, leaves, or other seasonal debris.
- Minor Cracking Sound: Normal operation may produce minor cracking sounds due to plastic expansion/contraction.
- Temporary Operation: In case of a misplaced or discharged remote control, the unit can be started or stopped by pressing the RESET button on the indoor unit. This sets the operation mode to AUTOMATIC, preset temperature to 24°C, and automatic fan speed.
- Auto Restart Operation: Automatically restarts the air conditioner after a power failure, provided the unit's power is on. This feature can be set or canceled via the RESET button on the indoor unit. It does not activate if an ON or OFF timer is set.
Maintenance Features
- Circuit Breaker: Always turn off the circuit breaker before performing any maintenance.
- Indoor Unit and Remote Control Cleaning: Clean with a wet cloth when needed. Avoid using benzine, thinner, polishing powder, or chemically-treated dusters.
- Air Filters Cleaning: Clean air filters every two weeks.
- Open the air inlet grille.
- Remove the air filters.
- Vacuum or wash and then dry them.
- Reinstall the air filters and close the air inlet grille.
- Qualified Personnel: Installation, maintenance, repair, and removal of the air conditioner must be performed by a qualified installer or service person.
- Refrigerant: Only the specified refrigerant (R32) should be used for complement or replacement. Using a different refrigerant can lead to abnormally high pressure, product failure, explosion, or injury.
Safety Precautions (Highlights)
- DANGER: Do not install, repair, open, or remove the cover due to dangerous voltages. Disconnection from the supply with at least 3 mm contact separation in all poles is required. The appliance must be stored in a room without continuous ignition sources. Do not operate near harmful gases.
- WARNING: Avoid direct exposure to cool/warm air for long periods. Do not insert fingers or objects into air inlet/outlet. Stop the unit and disconnect power if abnormalities (e.g., burning smell) occur. Children aged 8 and above, and persons with reduced capabilities, can use the appliance under supervision and instruction. Children should not play with the appliance or perform cleaning/maintenance without supervision.
- CAUTION: Do not use means to accelerate defrosting or cleaning other than those recommended by the manufacturer. The appliance must be stored in a room without continuously operating ignition sources. Be aware that refrigerants may not contain an odor. Do not pierce or burn the appliance. Do not expose the appliance to heat, flames, sparks, or other ignition sources. Do not wash the unit with water. Do not use for preserving food, breeding animals, etc. Do not step or put anything on the indoor/outdoor unit. Do not touch aluminum fins. Turn off the main switch or circuit breaker before cleaning. If the unit is not used for a long time, turn off the main switch or circuit breaker. Maintenance should be performed by a specialist. The manufacturer is not liable for damage caused by not observing the manual.
