  If the outer lid of your Toshiba Rice Cooker doesn't open when you press the open button, remember that you cannot open the lid during cooking. If the indication is lit in the Keep Warm mode, press the open button twice: once to release the vacuum, and the second time to open the lid. If the open button is too heavy to press down, do not force it. Instead, press the OFF key and wait until the main body has cooled down and the pressure is reduced for your safety.

Why is the rice from my Toshiba RC-DX10H Rice Cooker soft and mushy?

  If your Toshiba Rice Cooker produces rice that is too soft, mushy, coagulates, or lacks good taste, it might be due to soaking the rice before cooking or setting the timer. Try reducing the amount of water you use, or select the cooking course. Also, avoid washing the rice too hard or leaving it in a sieve basket for extended periods, as this can crack the grains. Ensure you loosen the rice immediately after cooking. If you used alkaline water with a pH of 9 or greater, or hot water, consider using a little less water for recently harvested rice.

  If your Toshiba Rice Cooker is making the rice smell bad while using the Keep Warm mode, it could be due to several reasons. These include using the Keep Warm mode for too long, using it for mixed or non-white rice, using it for cold rice, leaving the rice scoop in the pot, repeatedly using the Keep Warm mode for long periods, or keeping rice warm for over 12 hours in . If the rice smells, clean the cooker by boiling it before the next use. Also, ensure you remove and clean the inner lid, filter, and steam vent after each use, drying them with a clean cloth. Change the Keep Warm settings if necessary.

  If the rice from your Toshiba Rice Cooker turns out hard, dries out, or lacks flavor, it might be because you used hard mineral water. Try increasing the amount of water or using the cooking course. You can also soak the rice in water before cooking.

  Rice scorching in your Toshiba Rice Cooker can occur for several reasons. Insufficiently washed rice can cause scorching, so rinse it 1 or 2 times before cooking. Soaking rice for too long, using the timer, or cooking pre-washed rice can also lead to scorching. The same goes for cooking whole rice or adding seasonings to cook mixed rice. Ensure there are no foreign objects on the temperature sensor or lid temperature sensor. Avoid using the cooking course.

  If your Toshiba Rice Cooker isn't cooking rice well or the rice lacks taste, ensure you didn't start cooking while the cooker's inside or inner lid was hot; let it cool down first. Rice cooked in the , , or may be slightly mushy or hard, so try using the course instead. Also, make sure the inner lid, temperature sensors, inner lid packing, inner pot rim, and vacuum air inlet/outlet are free of foreign objects. Confirm that the inner pot and inner lid are not deformed and that you've attached the inner lid and steam vent. Finally, consider whether there was a power failure during cooking.

  If rice kept warm in your Toshiba Rice Cooker dries out or becomes discolored, check for foreign objects on the inner lid packing, inner pot rim, or main body frame, and also on the outer side of the inner pot or the temperature sensor. Ensure the steam vent is properly fitted. Avoid using the Keep Warm mode for extended periods or repeatedly reheating the rice.

  If the rice in your Toshiba Rice Cooker becomes mushy while using the Keep Warm mode, try using the Keep Warm mode after cooking rice with a little less water. Loosen the rice immediately after it is cooked and gather the rice stuck to the side surface of the inner pot, loosening it occasionally. If the rice around the inside of the pot is still mushy, change the Keep Warm settings.

  Steam or droplets coming out from the steam vent of your Toshiba Rice Cooker is normal to release pressure and not a malfunction. Consider if the amount of rice was too small, the water was in excess, or the rice wasn't washed sufficiently. Ensure you selected the correct course when cooking congee or brown rice. Check for foreign objects on the temperature sensors and if the inside of the steam vent is dirty. Confirm that you've attached the steam vent, inner lid, and filter and that no foreign objects are stuck in the inner lid. A power failure during cooking may also cause boiling over.

  If steam leaks out of your Toshiba Rice Cooker, check for foreign objects on the inner lid packing, inner pot rim, or on the frame, and also on the inner lid, clamp receiving parts, or clamp parts. Inspect the inner lid packing for damage and ensure the inner lid and inner pot are not deformed. Make sure the inner lid is properly fitted.
