Why does my rice kept warm smell bad in my Toshiba RC-DZ4K?
    • C
      cheyenneramirezAug 20, 2025
Your rice might smell bad if kept warm for too long, especially mixed or cold rice. Leaving the rice scoop in the pot or using the Keep Warm mode repeatedly for extended periods can also cause this. Ensure the inner lid, steam vent, and main body are clean and dry after each use. Insufficiently washed rice or setting the timer for too long can also contribute to the odor. Also, check if the rice is still in the pot with the Keep Warm mode off, or if there was a power failure.

What to do if my Toshiba RC-DZ4K rice is soft and mushy?
    • J
      Jeff PorterAug 22, 2025
If your rice is too soft or mushy, try reducing the amount of water you use, or select the course. Make sure to loosen the rice immediately after cooking. For recently harvested rice, use a little less water. Soaking the rice before cooking or using the timer can also make it softer. Avoid washing the rice too hard or leaving it in a sieve basket for too long, as this can crack the grains. Also, avoid using alkaline water with a pH of 9 or greater, or hot water.

    • R
      Randy WallerAug 25, 2025
If your rice is hard or dry, try increasing the amount of water or selecting the course. Soaking the rice in water before cooking may also help. Avoid using hard mineral water.

Why does my Toshiba RC-DZ4K Rice Cooker rice scorch?
    • M
      Mark MartinezAug 26, 2025
Rice may scorch if it is not washed sufficiently before cooking. It can also occur if the rice is soaked for too long, or when using the timer function. If you're cooking pre-washed rice, wash it 1 or 2 times. Scorching can also happen when cooking whole rice or adding seasonings for mixed rice. Ensure there are no foreign objects on the temperature sensor or lid temperature sensor.

What to do if my Toshiba RC-DZ4K rice does not cook well?
    • S
      Samantha WellsAug 28, 2025
If your rice isn't cooking well, ensure you start cooking after the inside of the cooker and inner lid have cooled down. Rice cooked with the course may be slightly mushy or hard; try using the course instead. Check for any foreign objects stuck in the inner lid, on the lid temperature sensor, temperature sensor, inner lid packing, inner pot rim, or air inlet/outlet. Also, verify that the inner pot and inner lid are not deformed, and that you have attached the inner lid and steam vent. Finally, consider whether there was a power failure during cooking.

Why does my Toshiba RC-DZ4K Rice Cooker rice dry out and become discolored while kept warm?
    • D
      Danielle WongAug 29, 2025
Rice may dry out and become discolored if there are foreign objects on the inner lid packing, inner pot rim, or main body frame, or on the outer side of the inner pot or the temperature sensor. Make sure the steam vent is properly fitted. This can also happen if you use the Keep Warm mode for a long time or repeatedly reheat the rice.

If rice becomes mushy while kept warm, use the Keep Warm mode after cooking the rice with a little less water. Loosen the rice immediately after it is cooked. Also, gather the rice stuck to the side surface of the inner pot and loosen the rice occasionally.
