Overview

The Touch Carafe Ready T526S is a single-serve and carafe-ready brewing system designed for home use, offering convenience and versatility for brewing various hot beverages. This brewer is engineered to serve "one cup at a time" or a family-sized carafe, making it suitable for individual use or for serving multiple people.

Function Description:

The primary function of the Touch T526S is to brew coffee, tea, or hot cocoa using single-serve pods or ground coffee in a refillable jumbo cup. It operates by heating water to an optimal temperature and then injecting it through the chosen coffee medium to produce a hot beverage. The brewer features multiple cup size options, ranging from 6 oz to 18 oz, as well as a dedicated "CARAFE" button for brewing a 26 oz family-sized portion.

To begin brewing, the user fills the water tank with filtered or bottled water, ensuring it does not exceed the MAX fill line. For single-serve brewing, a K-Cup® pack, XBold cup, or XLarge cup is inserted into the Red Cup Holder. The brewer is then closed, and the desired cup size button is pressed. The brewing process involves the brewer warming up, indicated by a blinking light, and then dispensing hot water through the pod into a cup placed on the drip tray. For carafe brewing, the Red Cup Holder is removed, and a Refill Jumbo Cup packed with ground coffee is inserted. The carafe is placed on the drip tray, and the "CARAFE" button is pressed. The brewer is designed to automatically shut off after 30 minutes of non-use to conserve power.

The brewer is equipped with a Power Button to turn the device ON/OFF, a Low Water Indicator that blinks when the water level is low or the tank is removed, and a Brewing Indicating Light that illuminates during warm-up and blinks during the brewing cycle. The water tank can be refilled either by pouring water directly into it with the lid open or by removing the tank, filling it, and then reattaching it to the brewer.

Usage Features:

The Touch T526S offers several features to enhance the user experience:

  • Multiple Cup Sizes: Seven cup size options (6 oz, 8 oz, 10 oz, 12 oz, 14 oz, 16 oz, 18 oz) cater to different preferences and beverage types.
  • Carafe Brewing: A dedicated carafe function allows for brewing a larger 26 oz portion using the Refill Jumbo Cup and Carafe, ideal for sharing.
  • Pod Compatibility: The brewer is designed to work with various single-serve pods, including K-Cup® packs, XBold cups, and XLarge cups, as well as ground coffee in the Refill Jumbo Cup.
  • Adjustable Drip Tray: The drip tray can be inserted into an upper slot to accommodate smaller cups and minimize splattering, or removed entirely to fit taller mugs or the carafe.
  • First Use Setup: A one-time setup process involves multiple brewing cycles with hot water only to cleanse the brewer before its first use.
  • Iced Beverage Brewing: Users can brew iced beverages by placing a tall cup filled with ice on the drip tray and selecting their desired pod and cup size.
  • Purging the Brewer: If the brewer has not been used for over a week, it is recommended to empty the water tank and run a brewing cycle without a pod before regular use.
  • Safety Mechanisms: The brewer includes safety features such as warnings against touching hot surfaces, lifting the cover during brewing, and inserting fingers into the Red Cup Holder due to sharp needles. It also has a mechanism to prevent accidental activation if a cup size button is not pressed within 60 seconds after closing the cover.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of the Touch T526S.

  • External Cleaning: The exterior of the brewer should be cleaned regularly with a damp, non-abrasive cloth and mild detergent. Machine parts should not be washed in a dishwasher.
  • Drip Tray Cleaning: The drip tray can accumulate up to 6 oz of overflow. It should be removed, drained, and cleaned with a damp non-abrasive cloth.
  • Needle Cleaning: The brewer has three sharp needles: one under the cover and two in the Red Cup Holder. These needles should be checked for coffee grind clogs. If clogged, a paper clip or toothbrush can be used to carefully clean them. Users are cautioned not to insert fingers directly into the Red Cup Holder or touch the top needle due to their sharpness.
  • Red Cup Holder Cleaning: The Red Cup Holder can be removed from the brewer and immersed in hot water for five minutes, then rinsed with warm water to ensure thorough cleaning.
  • Water Tank and Lid Cleaning: The water tank and its lid should be cleaned with a damp non-abrasive cloth. The filter screen at the base of the water tank can be cleaned by emptying the tank and spraying it with high-pressure water. The water tank and lid are not dishwasher safe. If a water filtering system is used, it should be removed before cleaning the tank.
  • De-scaling: Depending on water quality and usage, calcium and scale can build up inside the brewer, affecting performance. De-scaling is recommended every 3-6 months using a solution of white vinegar. The process involves filling the water tank with vinegar, running multiple 14 oz brewing cycles without a pod, allowing the brewer to stand for several hours, and then rinsing the water tank thoroughly. This is followed by multiple fresh water rinse cycles to ensure all de-scaling solution is removed.
