This document is an assembly and operation guide for the Treasure Garden AG19A Cantilever umbrella, a 10-foot octagon-shaped outdoor umbrella designed for residential use.
Function Description:
The AG19A Cantilever umbrella provides shade and can be adjusted for various positions and angles. It features a 360° rotating function, allowing the user to position the umbrella to maximize shade coverage over different entertaining areas. The umbrella can be opened, closed, tilted, and rotated using a crank handle. It also includes a light adapter feature for attaching an umbrella light (sold separately). The cantilever design means the support pole is offset from the canopy, providing an unobstructed space beneath the umbrella.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Model: AG19A Cantilever
- Canopy Shape and Size: 10' octagon
- Base Requirements: Requires four (4) 45 lb. weights (square stones or concrete weights) for a total of 180 lb. of support. Weights are not included. Standard sizes for weights can be up to 20" L x 20" W x 1.5" H. Treasure Garden base weights (BF10 Resin Base Weights) are also compatible (sold separately).
- Hardware: Includes 8 bolts, 8 washers, and a 6mm hexagon wrench for assembly.
- Clearance: Approximately 59" clearance behind the umbrella is required for safe operation and to avoid damage during opening.
Usage Features:
Assembly:
- Assemble Universal Cross Bar Stand:
- Choose a level, sturdy location with ample height and no sloping soft ground.
- Set cross bars in a cross position.
- Attach the base stem to the cross bar stand using 4 bolts and 4 washers (Fig. 1).
- Adjust the cross bar stand to accommodate 16", 18", or 20" square stone or concrete weights by removing preattached bolts and washers from cross bar extenders, adjusting to the desired length, and reattaching (Fig. 2).
- Tighten using the 6mm hexagon wrench.
- Secure the stand with 4 square stones, concrete weights, or Treasure Garden base weights (Fig. 3). Crucially, the cross bar stand will not support the umbrella without proper weights, and using it without weights will cause damage.
- Assemble Frame:
- Carefully lift and insert the bottom pole into the base stem (Fig. 4).
- Tighten the base stem clamp to secure it in place (Fig. 5).
Operation:
- Opening Umbrella:
- Prior to Opening: Ensure approximately 59" clearance behind the umbrella from any furniture or structure to prevent personal injury or damage.
- With one hand on the pole and the other on the cantilever arm, slowly lift the cantilever arm up until the release column locks into place upward (Fig. 6 & 7).
- Insert the crank handle into the "ARM" socket on the arm housing. While holding the pole, turn the crank handle clockwise until the cantilever arm is fully extended outward (Fig. 8).
- Insert the crank handle into the "OPEN/CLOSED" socket on the operation housing. Turn the crank handle clockwise until the umbrella canopy is fully opened and the lower hub is at the topmost position (Fig. 9 & 10).
- Tilting Umbrella:
- Prior to Using Tilt Feature: Ensure the area around the umbrella canopy is clear and free from any furniture or structure to avoid personal injury or damage.
- Insert the crank handle into the "RIGHT/LEFT" socket on the operation housing (Fig. 11).
- Turn the crank handle to the left or right to achieve the desired canopy tilt angle (Fig. 12).
- Rotating Umbrella:
- Prior to Rotating Umbrella: Ensure the area around the umbrella is clear and free from any furniture or structure.
- Loosen the base stem clamp by turning the clamp counter-clockwise.
- Rotate the umbrella to the desired position.
- Turn the clamp in a clockwise direction to secure it in place (Fig. 13).
- Light Adapter Feature:
- To Attach Umbrella Light (sold separately): Loosen the light adapter built into the umbrella runner by turning counter-clockwise (Fig. 14). After loosening, pull down the light adapter post (Fig. 15) to attach the umbrella light.
- To Remove Light and Close Adapter: Remove the umbrella light and gently push up the light adapter post back into the umbrella runner and tighten by turning clockwise (Fig. 14). It is not necessary to remove the light to close the umbrella.
- Closing Umbrella:
- Important: When closing, the canopy must be in a horizontal position to prevent damage.
- Insert the crank handle into the "OPEN/CLOSED" socket on the operation housing. Turn the crank handle counter-clockwise until the umbrella canopy is closed (Fig. 16 & 17).
- Insert the crank handle into the "ARM" socket on the arm housing. While holding the pole, turn the crank handle counter-clockwise until the cantilever arm is fully retracted (Fig. 18).
- With one hand on the cantilever arm and the other on the release column, pull down on the release column to disengage (Fig. 19).
- Guide the cantilever arm downward (Fig. 20) until the umbrella is in a closed position (Fig. 21).
- Caution: Avoid pinching hands or fingers while closing. Once closed, tie the strap around the canopy and cover it with a protective cover (sold separately).
Maintenance Features:
Care and Maintenance:
- When not in use: Close and cover the umbrella with a protective cover (not included).
- Wet canopy: Allow a wet canopy to dry in an open position, but do not leave it unattended.
- Cleaning: Clean the fabric with lukewarm water, mild detergent, and a sponge if necessary. Wipe sliding marks on aluminum poles with a damp cloth.
- Winter Storage: Store in a dry place.
- After Winter: Check the umbrella's condition and function. Any defects should be repaired by a professional.
To Properly Fold Canopy:
- This technique extends canopy life, especially for seasonal storage or when left closed for extended periods.
- Once fully closed, stand in front of the canopy.
- Pull out two panels opposite the cantilever pole. Pull these two panels together and roll them tightly into the canopy.
- Once rolled tight, pull adjacent panels out one at a time and fold to the center, alternating sides until all panels are pulled from the arms and folded into the center.
- Tie a string around the canopy and cover the umbrella with a protective cover (sold separately).
Safety Precautions:
- Read and follow the Assembly Guide before assembling and operating.
- Close and store the umbrella in windy conditions or during storms. Never allow the umbrella to flap in the wind, as this can cause injury or damage. Do not use the tilting function in windy conditions.
- Keep the umbrella secured to the base with base weights at all times.
- Do not leave an open umbrella unattended; damage from this is not covered by the warranty.
- When adjusting the umbrella, ensure no persons, items, or personal property are close to prevent injury or material damage.
- Do not allow children to play on or with the umbrella or base weights.
- When adjusting or assembling, ensure fingers, toes, or any other body parts are clear from moving parts to prevent serious injury.
