Make sure the motorcycle is stabilised and adequately supported.
A correctly supported motorcycle will help prevent it from falling.
An unstable motorcycle may fall, causing injury to the operator or damage to the
motorcycle.
When turning the crankshaft at the front of the engine (clutch cover end) always turn
anticlockwise. When turning the crankshaft at the rear of the engine (alternator cover
end) always turn clockwise.
Turning the crankshaft in the wrong direction may cause the camshaft drive chain to
slip on the camshaft sprockets resulting in incorrect camshaft timing.
If the camshaft drive chain is not to be replaced, the drive chain will be with the
cylinder head when removing the cylinder head.
If the cylinder head is to be replaced, the camshaft drive chain must be removed (see
Camshaft Drive Chain - Removal).
