This document serves as the operating manual for the TFC 19 E and TFC 20 E fan heaters, providing essential information for safe and effective use, maintenance, and disposal.
The TFC 19 E and TFC 20 E are ceramic fan heaters designed to generate and distribute warm air within closed rooms. They utilize a ceramic heating element to warm the surrounding air, which is then blown into the room by an integrated fan. Both models are equipped with a built-in thermostat to maintain a constant flow of warm air. Additionally, they feature an on-demand oscillation function (70° for TFC 19 E and 80° for TFC 20 E) to ensure an even distribution of warm air throughout the room. These devices are intended for floor installation and are suitable for well-insulated spaces or occasional use, primarily for private usage and additional heating. They are not designed for commercial applications.
Safety features are integral to the design of these fan heaters. Both models include an overheating protection system, which activates a safety thermostat if the device exceeds its operating temperature, causing it to switch off. Once the device cools down sufficiently, the heating function will reactivate. If the safety thermostat fails, the overheating protection will trip, switching the device off completely, requiring professional service. Furthermore, an integrated tilt protection system automatically switches the device off if it is knocked over or inclined out of its vertical position, minimizing the risk of fire. The device can be used again a few seconds after being placed back in an upright, stable position on solid ground.
Before initial use or after a period of non-use, it is normal for slight odours to arise. When positioning the device, ensure it is placed on a firm, stable, and upright surface, observing minimum distances from walls and other objects as specified in the technical annex to prevent obstruction of air flow and ensure proper ventilation. Avoid placing the device directly beneath a wall socket or in wet rooms. It is crucial to ensure that the air inlet and outlet are not obstructed by curtains, textiles, or loose objects, and to maintain a safety distance of at least 1 meter from combustible materials.
To operate the fan heater, first connect the power cable to a properly fused mains socket, ensuring the cable is fully unwound and guided along the back of the device to prevent damage or tripping hazards. The device will not switch on if the room temperature is already above the temperature set on the room thermostat.
To set the heating level, use the function selector switch. Position "I" activates heating level 1, while position "II" activates heating level 2 for maximum heating performance. The operating light will illuminate when the device is active. For smaller rooms, it is recommended to start with heating level 1 and switch to level 2 if more heat is required.
The desired room temperature is set using the stepless rotary switch of the room thermostat. To find the ideal setting, turn the thermostat to maximum, and once the desired temperature is reached, slowly turn the control back until the device switches off and the operating light goes out. The device will then automatically maintain this temperature, switching the heating off when the set value is exceeded and back on when it falls below. The desired room temperature should always be set higher than the current room temperature for the device to activate.
The oscillation function, which ensures consistent heating, can be activated by setting the function selector switch to the oscillation symbol (↓ for TFC 19 E, or +II for TFC 20 E). This will cause the device to turn to and fro by up to 70° (TFC 19 E) or 80° (TFC 20 E). To switch off the oscillation function, simply set the function selector switch back to position "I" or "II". It is important never to manually adjust the pivoting mechanism to avoid damaging it.
In case of an emergency, immediately switch off the device and disconnect it from the mains by holding onto the mains plug and pulling the power cable out of the socket. Do not reconnect a defective device. If the device does not start or the heating is not operating, check the power connection, power cable for damage, on-site fusing, and the room temperature setting. Ensure the device is standing upright and on level ground. If issues persist, contact customer service or an authorised specialist company.
Regular maintenance is crucial for the safe and functional operation of the fan heater. Before performing any maintenance, care, or repair work, always switch off the device and remove the mains plug from the mains socket, holding onto the plug while doing so. Allow the device to cool down completely before handling.
The housing of the device should be cleaned with a soft, damp, and lint-free cloth. It is imperative to ensure that no moisture enters the housing and to protect electrical components from moisture. Avoid using aggressive cleaning agents such as cleaning sprays, solvents, alcohol-based, or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the device. After cleaning, wipe the housing dry. Never immerse the device in water.
Tasks that require opening the device housing, such as replacing a defective motor, heating resistor, or thermostat, must only be carried out by authorised specialist electrical companies or by Trotec. Do not attempt to repair the device yourself if the power cable is damaged; it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified persons to avoid hazards.
Before each use, check accessories and connection parts for possible damage. Do not use any defective devices or parts. Ensure all electric cables outside the device are protected from damage, for example, from animals. Keep all safety signs, stickers, and labels on the device in legible condition and do not remove them.
When storing the device, ensure it is dry and protected from frost and heat. Store it in an upright position, protected from dust and direct sunlight, ideally with a cover to prevent invasive dust. Do not place any other devices or objects on top of the fan heater to prevent damage. Allow the device to cool down sufficiently before storage.
For disposal, the device must not be disposed of with household waste. It should be returned to designated collection points for waste electrical and electronic equipment. This ensures proper re-use, recycling, and other forms of recovery, preventing negative environmental and health effects from hazardous substances. Information on collection points can be obtained from your municipality or local administration, or via the provided website.
