Overview

The Trotec TCH 18 E and TCH 19 E are convectors designed to generate warm air in interior spaces. These devices are suitable for well-insulated spaces or occasional use, providing heat through an electric heating element. The air surrounding the heating element is heated and then rises through the air outlet, circulating into the room. Both models are equipped with an integrated thermostat, which helps maintain a constant flow of warm air by automatically switching the heating on or off based on the desired room temperature.

Function Description:

The primary function of the TCH 18 E and TCH 19 E convectors is to provide supplemental heating for closed rooms. Users can select from various heating capacities: 750 W, 1250 W, or a maximum of 2000 W by actuating flip switches on the control panel. The integrated room thermostat allows for automatic temperature control. Once a desired temperature is set using the infinitely variable rotary switch, the device will switch off when the set value is exceeded and switch back on when the temperature falls below the set point, ensuring a consistent room temperature. The lamps on the flip switches indicate when the room thermostat is active.

Important Technical Specifications:

Both the TCH 18 E and TCH 19 E models share similar technical specifications, making them versatile for various heating needs.

Usage Features:

The convectors are designed for user-friendly operation and safety.

  • Portability: The devices are fitted with a carrying handle, making them easy to transport.
  • Setup: The feet must be mounted before positioning the device. The device should be placed on firm ground in an upright, stable position.
  • Control Panel: The control panel includes flip switches for selecting heating levels (750 W, 1250 W, 2000 W) and a rotary switch for the room thermostat.
  • Overheating Protection: A safety thermostat is integrated, which automatically switches off the device if it overheats. The lamps on the flip switches will turn off in this event. Users are advised to allow the device to cool down and investigate the cause of overheating before restarting.
  • Safety Warnings: Numerous safety warnings are provided, including precautions against electrical voltage, hot surfaces, suffocation risks from packaging, and improper installation. It is crucial to keep children and animals away from the device during operation and to ensure proper ventilation by not covering the device.
  • Intended Use: The device is specifically for heating air in closed rooms such as living spaces, storerooms, salesrooms, construction areas, containers, and basements. It is not intended for outdoor use, heating vehicles, or use in wet rooms.
  • Connection: The device must be plugged into a properly fused mains socket. The power cable should be guided along the back of the device to prevent damage and tripping hazards.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance helps ensure the device's longevity and safe operation.

  • Pre-Maintenance Steps: Before any maintenance, the device must be switched off, the mains plug disconnected from the socket (holding onto the plug, not the cable), and allowed to cool down completely.
  • Cleaning the Housing: The housing should be cleaned with a soft, damp, and lint-free cloth. It is important to prevent moisture from entering the housing and to protect electrical components. Aggressive cleaning agents, solvents, alcohol-based, or abrasive cleaners should not be used. The housing must be wiped dry after cleaning.
  • Professional Servicing: Any tasks requiring the device housing to be opened, or repairs to electrical components or damaged power cables, must only be carried out by authorised specialist companies or Trotec. Defective power cables pose a serious health risk and must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified persons.
  • Storage: When not in use, the device should be stored in a dry location, protected from frost and heat, in an upright position, and shielded from dust and direct sunlight. A cover can be used to protect against invasive dust. No other devices or objects should be placed on top to prevent damage.
