Surface roughness causes a negative bias, increasing with the
amount and size of voids underneath the gauge. For backscatter
density, a 100% void of 1.25 mm (0.05 inches) will cause a
negative bias of a 64.4 kg/m

(4.00 pcf).
For direct transmission density, a 100% void of 1.25 mm (0.05
inches) will cause a negative bias of 14.4 kg/m
3
(0.90 pcf).
For moisture, a 100% void of 1.25 mm (0.05 inches) will cause a
negative bias of 17.6 kg/m
3
(1.10 pcf).
