covered or grass-covered land unless the engine’s exhaust system is equipped with a spark arrester meeting applicable local or state laws (if any).
If a spark arrester is used, it should be maintained in effective working order by the operator. In the State of California the above is required by law
(Section 4442 of the California Public Resources Code). Other states may have similar laws. Federal laws apply on federal lands. A spark arrester
for the muffler is available through your nearest engine authorized service dealer or contact the service department, P.O. Box 361131 Cleveland,

      If your Troy-Bilt Chippers/Shredders unit does not discharge, immediately stop the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire. Then, clean the flail screen and the inside of the discharge opening to remove any clogs. Also, stop the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire to remove any foreign object lodged in the impeller. Ensure the engine is running at full throttle and that the vacuum bag is not full; empty the bag if necessary.

If your unit is equipped with a choke, make sure it is not running on CHOKE; move the choke lever to the OFF position. Inspect the fuel line for blockages and use clean, fresh gasoline. Ensure the engine is always running at full throttle. Drain the fuel tank and refill it with fresh fuel to eliminate any water or dirt in the fuel system. For a dirty air cleaner or carburetor issues, consult an authorized service dealer.
