8.5. Locate two sets of miscellaneous flat washers
that would equal approximately.120” in thick-
ness. See Figure 8.5.
NOTE: Measure the thickness of both washers
using a dial caliper. See Image Below.
8.6. Install the front snap ring using snap ring pliers.
See Figure 8.6.
8.7. Lubricate and install the front tapered roller bear-
ing race into the front of the transmission hous-
ing and up against the front retaining ring.
NOTE: The front race is installed from inside the
transmission housing.
8.8. Carefully begin sliding the drive shaft assembly
into the transmission housing until it reaches the
drive shaft area. See Figure 8.8.
8.9. Slide the support washer and front tapered roller
bearing onto the drive shaft assembly.
8.10. Slide the drive shaft assembly into the front
tapered roller bearing race.
