How to fix Troy-Bilt TB25CS Trimmer that will not start?
    • M

If your Troy-Bilt Trimmer engine won't start, it could be due to several reasons. First, ensure the fuel tank isn't empty and is filled with properly mixed fuel. If the primer bulb wasn't pressed enough, press it fully and slowly 10 times. If the engine is flooded, squeeze the trigger and pull the starter rope. Also, old or improperly mixed fuel can be a culprit; drain the gas tank and add fresh fuel mixture. Check for a fouled spark plug and replace or clean it. A plugged spark arrestor should be cleaned or replaced. Ensure the Blue EZ-Start™ lever is in the starting position. If the outside temperature is below 40º F, pull the starter rope up to 10-15 times; if above 90º F, squeeze the throttle control and pull the starter rope.

What to do if Troy-Bilt TB25CS cutting attachment will not advance?

      Michael MejiaAug 3, 2025
If the cutting attachment on your Troy-Bilt Trimmer will not advance, it could be due to several reasons. The cutting attachment might be bound with grass, so stop the engine and clean the cutting attachment. Alternatively, the cutting attachment might be out of line, requiring you to refill it with a new line. An inner reel bound up may also be the cause, necessitating replacement of the inner reel. If the cutting head is dirty, clean the inner reel and outer spool. If the line is welded, disassemble, remove the welded section, and rewind. If the line was twisted when refilled, disassemble and rewind the line. Finally, if not enough line is exposed, push the bump knob and pull out the line until 4 inches (102 mm) of line is outside of the cutting attachment.

      Margaret MartinezAug 14, 2025
If your Troy-Bilt Trimmer engine lacks power or stalls, the issue might stem from old or improperly mixed fuel, so drain the gas tank and add a fresh fuel mixture. It could also be due to an improper carburetor adjustment, in which case you should take it to an authorized service dealer for adjustment. A fouled spark plug can also cause this problem, so replace or clean the spark plug. Lastly, check for a plugged spark arrestor and clean or replace it.

If your Troy-Bilt Trimmer engine won't accelerate, it might be due to old or improperly mixed fuel; drain the gas tank and add fresh fuel mixture.
