Overview

The Visocor HM60 is a wrist blood pressure monitor designed for adults to automatically measure their systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, and pulse rate at the wrist. It can also be used by healthcare professionals. The device utilizes the oscillometric method for these measurements.

Function Description

The primary function of the Visocor HM60 is to provide accurate blood pressure and pulse rate readings. It automatically inflates the cuff to the required pressure and then deflates, displaying the systolic, diastolic, and pulse values. The device includes a WHO classification system, which categorizes the measured blood pressure values according to World Health Organization (WHO) and International Society of Hypertension (ISH) guidelines. This classification is visually represented by bars on the display after each measurement.

The monitor is equipped with a memory function that automatically stores up to 120 measurement results, including an average value calculated from the last three measurements. This allows users to track their blood pressure over time. When the memory exceeds 120 values, the oldest reading is automatically deleted to make room for new data. The device also features an irregular pulse indicator, which alerts the user if definite pulse irregularities are detected during a measurement.

The device is designed for ease of use with a clear LCD display that shows the date, time, SYS (systolic), DIA (diastolic), PUL (pulse), and various symbols such as the battery check display, average value memory, and irregular pulse waves. It automatically switches off after approximately 60 seconds of inactivity to conserve battery life.

Usage Features

To ensure accurate readings, several usage guidelines are provided. Users should rest for at least 5 minutes before taking a measurement, and up to an hour depending on prior exertion. It is crucial to clear the wrist of all clothing, watches, or jewelry to avoid obstructing blood flow. During measurement, users should remain still and refrain from talking, breathing slowly and deeply without holding their breath. For comparable results, measurements should be taken under similar conditions, ideally at the same time of day and on the same arm. Consulting a doctor to determine the appropriate arm for measurement is recommended.

The device is powered by two 1.5 V AAA LR03 alkaline manganese batteries. Battery replacement is straightforward, involving opening the battery compartment, inserting new batteries with correct polarity, and closing the cover. The device indicates a low battery with an "Empty battery" symbol. After battery replacement, the date and time need to be reset, but stored readings are retained until manually deleted.

Setting the date and time is done by pressing and holding the SET button, then using the Memory button to adjust the year, month, day, hours, and minutes, confirming each step with the SET button.

Attaching the cuff correctly is vital for accurate measurements. The device should be pulled over the left wrist with the palm facing up, ensuring a 1-2 cm distance between the palm and the cuff's edge. The cuff is then fastened using the hook and loop fastening.

Proper body posture is emphasized: sitting at a dining table, leaning back against a chair, bending the arm so it is at heart level, placing feet on the ground, and not crossing legs. Keeping the arm calm and relaxed, without making a fist, is important during the measurement. The measuring point should always be level with the heart, as deviations can affect the readings.

The memory function allows users to retrieve stored data by pressing the MEM button when the device is switched off. The average value is displayed first, followed by the most recently measured values, including their memory number and pulse value. The display alternates between showing the date and time of the measurement. The entire memory can be deleted by holding the MEM button until the values are replaced by zeroes.

Maintenance Features

Maintaining the Visocor HM60 involves several steps to ensure its longevity and accurate performance. After every measurement, especially if the device is used by multiple people, hands should be washed. The unit contains sensitive parts and must be protected from extreme temperature fluctuations, humidity, shocks, dust, and direct sunlight. It should not be knocked or dropped, and strong vibrations should be avoided.

The cuff, which contains a sensitive air-tight bladder, requires careful handling to prevent twisting or kinking. It should be kept away from sharp or pointed objects. For cleaning, the device should be wiped with a soft, dry cloth. Strong solvents like benzene or thinners should not be used. The cuff may absorb sweat and other fluids, so it should be inspected for marks or discolorations after each use. To clean the cuff, a damp soapy cloth can be used to wipe the surface; however, the device should never be washed in a dishwasher or washing machine, nor immersed in water.

When storing the device, care should be taken to ensure no heavy objects rest on the device or the cuff. Only the provided cuff and accessories should be used, as using different ones can lead to incorrect measurement results and invalidate the warranty. The device should only be operated with long-life alkaline batteries, and all batteries should be replaced simultaneously, avoiding the mixing of new and old or different types of batteries.

The manufacturer recommends a metrological inspection every two years, which can be performed by UEBE Medical GmbH or an authorized service. No modifications, such as opening the device (except for battery replacement), should be made without the manufacturer's permission. If the device malfunctions or is faulty, users are advised to consult the troubleshooting guide or contact customer service.
