What to do if raster engraving appears sharp on both ends but fuzzy in the middle on Universal Laser Systems X-660?
    • A
      Amber JonesAug 17, 2025
If you notice that the raster engraving appears sharp on both ends but fuzzy in the middle on your Universal Laser Systems Cutter, it could be due to several reasons: * The laser system might be dirty. Clean all optics, rails, bearings, and belts. * Something might be loose. Check the X-axis bearings, drive gear, idler pulley, belt, and optics. * The system may need tuning. Run the “Tuning” feature in the printer driver. * The X-axis belt and/or drive gear might be worn. Replace the belt and/or drive gear and run the “Tuning” feature. * The laser tube might be faulty. Replace the laser tube.

Why fine detail is missing when raster engraving on Universal Laser Systems X-660 Cutter?
    • C
      Christopher OlsonAug 28, 2025
If you're missing fine details like serifs or thin lines when raster engraving with your Universal Laser Systems Cutter, it might be due to: * The speed being too fast for the material. Try slowing down the engraving speed. * The laser not responding to low duty-cycle, high-speed engraving. Run the enhancement feature in the printer driver. * The system being out of focus. Refocus. * The system needing tuning. Run the “Tuning” feature in the printer driver. * The laser spot size being too big. Use a shorter focal length lens.

Why vertical or diagonal background pattern appears when raster engraving on Universal Laser Systems X-660?
    • A
      Alicia MahoneySep 1, 2025
If you observe a vertical or diagonal background pattern while raster engraving large areas or amounts of material with your Universal Laser Systems Cutter, it could be due to: * A dirty laser system. Clean all optics, rails, bearings and belts. * Loose motion system components. Check the X-axis bearings, belt, and optics. * Worn or damaged X-axis bearings. Replace the X-axis bearings. * Worn or damaged X-axis rail. Replace the X-axis arm.

What to do if engraving is sharp on one side and fuzzy on the opposite side on Universal Laser Systems X-660?
    • J
      jaimerobertsNov 23, 2025
If your engraving is sharp, clear, and at a good depth on one side of the table but fuzzy and shallow on the opposite side with your Universal Laser Systems Cutter, here's what you can check: * The system may be out of focus, so refocus. * The laser system may be dirty, so clean all optics, rails, bearings, and belts. * The material may not be level or may vary in thickness. Check the focus point of the material in different places and adjust the height by shimming the material or using more thickness-consistent material. * The table may not be level. Using the focus tool, focus directly on the surface of the table in all four corners. The table should be within +/- .020 inches from one corner to the other. Adjust if necessary. * The laser beam may be out of alignment with the o...
