What to do if raster engraving on Universal Laser Systems M-360 Cutter is sharp on the ends but fuzzy in the middle?
    • J
      jgillespieAug 20, 2025
If your raster engraving is sharp on both ends but fuzzy in the middle, the problem could be caused by a dirty laser system. You should clean all optics, rails, bearings, and belts. Another cause can be loose components: check X-axis bearings, drive gear, idler pulley, belt, and optics. It could also be that the system needs tuning (run “Tuning” feature in printer driver), a worn X-axis belt and/or drive gear (replace belt and/or drive gear, and run “Tuning” feature), or a faulty laser tube (replace laser tube).

Why is fine detail missing when raster engraving with Universal Laser Systems M-360 Cutter?
    • F
      fordrebekahAug 25, 2025
The absence of fine details, such as serifs or thin lines, during raster engraving can occur due to several reasons. The engraving speed might be too fast for the material; in this case, slow down the engraving speed. The laser may not be responding well to low duty-cycle, high-speed engraving, so try running the enhancement feature in the printer driver. Also, check that the system is in focus by re-focusing. If the system needs tuning, run the “Tuning” feature in the printer driver. Finally, the laser spot size might be too big, so consider using a shorter focal length lens.

How to remove vertical background pattern from Universal Laser Systems M-360 Cutter?
    • J
      Jennifer DouglasAug 28, 2025
A vertical or diagonal background pattern during raster engraving of large areas may be due to a dirty laser system. Try cleaning all optics, rails, bearings, and belts. It may also be caused by loose motion system components; check the X-axis bearings, belt, and optics. Worn or damaged X-axis bearings or a worn or damaged X-axis rail can also create this issue. In these cases, replace the X-axis bearings or the X-axis arm.

Why is there a horizontal background pattern on my Universal Laser Systems Cutter engravings?
    • J
      Jimmy KingAug 31, 2025
A horizontal background pattern appearing when raster engraving large areas could be due to a dirty laser system. Clean all optics, rails, bearings, and belts. Another possibility is a faulty laser tube, which would require replacement.

What to do if engraving disappears near Y-axis ruler on Universal Laser Systems Cutter?
    • A
      Amy KaiserSep 4, 2025
If engraving disappears, becomes lighter, or appears choppy when raster engraving at high speeds near the Y-axis ruler, this is a normal condition because the laser system needs to accelerate and decelerate within this area. To resolve this, move the graphic and/or material to the right, outside of this area. Also, slowing the raster speed down reduces the effect.

Why does my Universal Laser Systems Cutter engraving appear “halftoned” with non-black colors?
    • J
      Jeffrey BurgessSep 8, 2025
If your engraving appears “halftoned” and not solidly filled when using colors other than black, the issue likely stems from changes in your graphic, graphic software, its setup, color palette, monitor display colors, or driver settings. Check to see what has changed and refer to the manual to properly set up the graphics software. Also, check the driver settings.

Why is my Universal Laser Systems M-360 engraving not as deep as usual?
    • B
      brownjacobNov 12, 2025
There are several potential reasons why your engraving might not be as deep as expected. It could be due to changes in your graphic, graphic software, its setup, color palette, monitor display colors or driver settings. You should check these settings and ensure your software is correctly set up. Other factors include being out of focus (re-focus), changes in the material or its density (check material), incorrect power, speed, PPI, and DPI settings (check settings), a dirty laser system (clean all optics, rails, bearings and belts), dirty laser tube cooling fan filters (check and/or clean), ambient temperature not within specifications (adjust ambient temperature), laser beam misalignment (check and/or adjust laser beam alignment), misaligned Air Assist cone (check and/or adjust cone), or...

How to fix fuzzy raster engraving on Universal Laser Systems M-360 Cutter?
    • B
      basssarahNov 15, 2025
If your raster engraving appears fuzzy or small text looks like a double image, the issue might stem from several causes. First, ensure that your laser system is clean by cleaning all optics, rails, bearings, and belts. It's also possible that changes in your graphic, graphic software, its setup, color palette, monitor display colors, or driver settings are the cause. Check what has changed and refer to the manual to properly set up the graphics software and check driver settings. Other potential factors include the engraving speed being too fast for the material (slow down engraving speed), being out of focus (re-focus), the system needing tuning (run “Tuning” feature in printer driver), a worn X-axis belt and/or drive gear (replace belt and/or drive gear, and run “Tuning” feature), or a ...
