7.2 Daily maintenance
Daily perform the following checks and maintenance operations:
1. Make sure the safety precautions as described in chapter 7.1 are met.
2. Check the hydraulic system for any leaks and damages. Repair or replace if
necessary.
3. Check the locks of the pins.
4. Check the steel construction of the VRG grab for cracks. Welding is not allowed
without approval from your supplier in writing.
5. Grease all hinging points as well as the slewing rim with antiseize graphite
petroleum. For the greasing points refer to figure 7.2.1. After greasing hinging points
L1 and L2, turn the VRG grab 180 degrees and grease hinging points L1 and L2
again. (Grease L1 and L2: 3 or 4 strokes with the grease pump).
Note:
Not all grease nipples are easily accessible when the shells of the grab are open.
Therefore it is recommended to close the shells of the grab and position the grab on
the ground. In this position the grease points of the cylinder rod eyes can be accessed
easily (see figure 7.2.1).
Never stand under a suspended grab to grease the grease points!!
6. Check the stickers 'hands out' on the frame. Replace them when they are damaged.
