Why does the pilot light keep going out on my Vermont Castings SNV30?
    • T
      Tammy CastanedaAug 6, 2025
Frequent pilot outages in your Vermont Castings Stove can be due to a few reasons. The pilot flame might be too low or too high, causing it to drop out. Clean and/or adjust the pilot flame for maximum flame impingement on the thermocouple and thermopile. Also, there might be a blockage in the vent terminal, so check the vent terminal for any obstructions.

How to fix a spark ignitor that won't light on my Vermont Castings SNV30 Stove?

      Melissa JonesAug 15, 2025
If the spark ignitor on your Vermont Castings Stove won't light, it could be due to a defective or misaligned electrode at the pilot. Try lighting the pilot with a match. If it lights, turn off the pilot and push the ignitor button again. If the pilot still won't light, check the gap at the electrode and pilot; it should be 1/8” to ensure a strong spark. Another possibility is a defective ignitor (push button). Push the piezo ignitor button and check for a spark at the electrode and pilot. If there's no spark at the pilot and the electrode wire is properly connected, replace the ignitor.

What to do if pilot lights but there's no gas to burner on my Vermont Castings SNV30 Stove?

If the pilot light is on, the valve knob is in the ON position, and the remote switch is also ON, but there's no gas to the burner, there are several possible causes. First, the remote switch or its wires might be defective, so check the rocker switch and wires for proper connection. Use jumper wires across terminals at rocker switch. If burner lights, replace rocker switch. If okay, use jumper wires across rocker switch wires at the valve. If burner lights, wires are faulty or connections are bad. Second, the thermopile may not generate sufficient voltage. Be sure wire connections from thermopile at gas valve terminals are tight and thermopile is fully inserted into pilot bracket. One of the rocker switch wires may be grounded Remove rocker switch wire from valve terminals. If burner now ...

What to do if pilot will not stay lit on Vermont Castings SNV30?
    • K
      Kristin MckinneyNov 22, 2025
If the pilot on your Vermont Castings Stove won't stay lit even after carefully following the lighting instructions, it could be due to several issues. First, the pilot generator (thermocouple) might be defective. Check the pilot flame to ensure it impinges on the thermocouple or thermopile. Tighten the thermocouple and clean or adjust the pilot for maximum flame impingement on the thermocouple and thermopile. Second, the automatic valve operator could be defective. Turn the valve knob to “Pilot” and maintain flow to the pilot; a millivolt meter should read greater than 10mV. If the reading is okay but the pilot still doesn't stay on, replace the gas valve. Third, a defective safety switch could be the problem. Check the continuity across the safety limit switch with the unit cold. If ther...
