Overview

This document serves as the instruction manual for the MRR-Series & MPR-Series Multipurpose Ramps manufactured by Vestil Manufacturing Corp. These ramps are designed for various applications, primarily facilitating the movement of equipment and personnel over curbs, steps, or other obstacles.

Function Description:

The MRR-Series and MPR-Series ramps are designed to create a smooth transition over elevated surfaces like curbs or steps, or to bridge gaps between surfaces. They are intended for use in material handling and accessibility applications, allowing wheeled equipment or pedestrians to safely traverse changes in elevation. The manual emphasizes the importance of proper positioning to ensure safety and prevent damage. When used as a ramp, the device should be positioned firmly on a smooth floor surface, with its height matching that of the step or curb to avoid mis-stepping and potential injury or equipment damage. When used as a bridge, it should also rest firmly on a smooth surface and not compress any cords, pipes, or objects being bridged, allowing them to move freely.

Usage Features:

  • Receiving Instructions: Upon delivery, packaging should be removed carefully to preserve it and the product's orientation. A thorough inspection for transport damage is required, with any damage recorded on the bill of lading.
  • Safety Guidelines: Users must read and understand the entire manual before assembly, installation, use, or servicing. Failure to do so constitutes misuse. Unauthorized modifications void the warranty and can make the product unsafe.
  • Electrocution Hazard: Users are warned against contacting electrified wires with any part of the product, body, or clothing. The product should not be used or stored where contact with electrified wires is likely.
  • Proper Positioning:
    • Ramp Application: The ramp must be placed on a smooth floor surface to ensure even load distribution. The ramp's height should match the step's height to prevent mis-stepping. Improper positioning, such as the ramp being below or above the curb, or a gap between the ramp and curb, is explicitly shown as incorrect and dangerous.
    • Bridge Application: Similar to ramp application, the bridge must be placed on a smooth surface. It should not compress any cords, pipes, or objects it is bridging, allowing them to move freely to prevent damage to those objects.
  • Inspection Before Each Use: A thorough inspection is required before each use. Users must check for structural damage (cracks, broken/deformed load-bearing members, cracked welds, missing/deformed safety chains/straps, corrosion, severe wear). Any part failing inspection must be replaced, and the product should not be used until fully restored. Unusual noises or movements also indicate a malfunction, requiring the unit to be removed from service and reported.
  • Labeling: All product labels must be readable and undamaged.
  • General Use: The product should always be used in accordance with the manual's instructions and relevant training. It should be kept clean and dry, and moving parts should be lubricated. For hydraulic units, only anti-wear hydraulic oil (viscosity grade 150 SUS at 100°F, ISO 32 cSt @ 40°C) or Dexron transmission fluid should be used; brake fluid or jack oils are prohibited.

Maintenance Features:

  • Each Use Inspection:
    • Inspect the ramp for cracks, evidence of yields, or stretched plastic/rubber.
    • Inspect hardware for bridged ramps; fasteners should be tight and secure.
    • Inspect bridge features; walls should be undamaged to allow cords, pipes, and objects to move freely.
    • If rust is present on brackets, prepare the surface and paint.
    • If rust is present on fasteners, replace them with new hardware.

Limited Warranty:

Vestil Manufacturing Corporation provides a limited warranty against defects in material and workmanship for a period of 30 days from the shipping date (or up to 30 days extra for authorized distributor shipments). The warranty covers original dynamic components (motors, hydraulic pumps, electronic controllers, switches, cylinders) and wearing parts (bearings, hoses, wheels, seals, brushes, batteries, battery charger). To request warranty service, a warrantee (purchaser from Vestil or an authorized distributor who has fully paid) must provide a photocopy of the Customer Invoice and a written request including name, phone number, and a list of defective parts. The warranty is voided by product misuse, negligent operation or repair, corrosion, inadequate maintenance, shipping damage, collisions, or unauthorized modifications. The warranty does not cover labor or freight. Vestil makes no other express warranties, and all implied warranties are disclaimed to the extent allowed by law.
