Overview

This document provides the instruction manual for the VEVOR Ice Shaver, model BY-288G. It is designed for commercial and similar applications, including staff kitchen areas in shops, offices, and other working environments, as well as by clients in hotels, motels, residential-type environments, and bed and breakfast establishments. The device is intended for indoor use only and is specifically designed to shave ice.

Function Description:

The VEVOR Ice Shaver is an electrical appliance that shaves ice cubes into small granules. It features a hopper for loading ice cubes, a switch for operation, and a knob to adjust the size of the ice particles (Rough/Fine). The machine is equipped with a "Reverse" function to clear jams in the hopper. It also includes a drain system to manage melted ice. The device is designed for ease of use with a simple ON/OFF switch.

Important Technical Specifications:

The ice shaver is available in two electrical ratings:

  • AC120V/60Hz: 650W, 4.18A
  • AC220-240V: 50/60Hz, 550W

Its capacity is rated at ≥70KG/H, indicating its ability to process a significant amount of ice quickly. The physical dimensions (LWH) are 395x296x515mm. The machine uses a grounded, three-prong plug for electrical safety, requiring connection to a grounded 120V (US) or 230V (EC) wall outlet receptacle.

Usage Features:

  1. Installation: The machine should be placed on a firm, flat, and level surface, ensuring it is not near the edge of a worktop. A minimum of 15cm space should be maintained between the back and sides of the appliance and the wall to prevent overheating and ensure proper air circulation. The appliance must be positioned where the plug is accessible.
  2. Ice Loading: Small ice cubes, with a side length of no more than 2-3CM, are loaded into the hopper after lifting the top lid. Using larger ice cubes may cause the machine to jam or burn out the motor.
  3. Operation:
    • ON: After loading ice and closing the lid, plug in the power cord and poke the switch to "ON" to start crushing ice into granules.
    • OFF: Press the power switch to "OFF" to stop the machine.
    • Reverse: If the hopper is jammed with ice or no crushed ice comes out, switch to "Reverse" for a few seconds to restart the ice cubes' movement, then switch back to "ON" to resume crushing.
    • Rough/Fine: Adjust the "Rough/Fine" knob to control the desired size of the ice particles.
  4. Continuous Use: To prevent motor overheating, the machine must stop working for 10 minutes after every 30 minutes of continuous operation.
  5. Catch Container: A catch container should be placed on the base to collect the shaved ice. It's important not to overfill the catch container to the point of touching the outlet, as this can cause ice to lodge in the chopped blade.
  6. Safety Precautions:
    • Always read the instruction manual carefully before operation.
    • Check for damaged parts before use; do not operate if any parts are damaged.
    • Unplug the power cord from the outlet when not in use, before removing parts, or before cleaning.
    • Never leave the machine unattended while it is running.
    • Wait until all moving parts have stopped and the power is off before removing any part.
    • Do not operate with a damaged cord or plug.
    • Do not pull the power cord to disconnect; always pull the plug.
    • Keep the appliance and power cable away from heat sources and hot surfaces.
    • Do not pour water directly into the hopper or feed to clean, as this can cause an electrical short circuit or shock.
    • The blade is very sharp and requires careful handling.
    • Do not remove warning labels from the machine.

Maintenance Features:

  1. Pre-Maintenance: Before any cleaning or maintenance, ensure the mains switch is off and the supply plug is disconnected from the mains.
  2. Daily Cleaning: Accurately clean the equipment and the discs daily to ensure correct operation and prolong the life of the equipment.
  3. Blade Cleaning: After each use, clean water can be used to wash the blade, ensuring it remains clean and uncorrupted, which extends its service life.
  4. External Cleaning: Wipe the outside of the ice shaver with a clean, soft cloth after each use. For grease or other impurities, use a damp cloth moistened with a neutral detergent. Do not use alcohol, as it may cause plastic parts to crack.
  5. Crushed Ice Container Cleaning: After each use, immerse the container in a mixture of neutral detergent and water for at least 3 minutes, then rinse with water and dry.
  6. Blade Replacement: The blade is a natural wear part. It will wear down after cutting a certain quantity of ingredients. It is necessary to timely purchase and replace the blade with the corresponding specification. Improper operation or cutting overly hard ingredients will also damage the blade.
  7. Screw Check: Periodically check for loose set screws and tighten them as needed to maintain the machine.
  8. Long-Term Storage: If the machine will be idle for a long time, disconnect the main wall switch and thoroughly clean the machine and its accessories.
  9. Cord Replacement: If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified persons to avoid a hazard.

Troubleshooting:

The manual includes a "Common Malfunction Analysis" table to help diagnose and resolve issues. For example, if the machine is not working, potential reasons include an unplugged or broken power cord, a broken socket, a burnt motor, a damaged safety switch, or no electricity/low voltage. Solutions range from plugging in/replacing the power cord/socket to replacing the motor/safety switch or contacting the power supply department.
