general
hints
for
starting
sewing
It
is
always
wise
to
try
a
tension
test
on
the
fabric
you
are
using
before
beginning
to
sew.
To
do
this,
fold
an
off
Cut
of
the
fabr;c
in
half
and
sew
straight
seam
in
the
direction
of
the
grain;
the
2
threads
should
lock
between
the
2
layers
of
fabrics.
If
the
lower
thread
lies
along
the
underneath
of
the
seam
pulling
the
top
thread
through.
the
top
tension
is
too
loose
and
should
be
set
on
a
higher
number.
When
turning
the
regulating
button
cpl.
to
5,
things
will
changeand
now
the
upper
thread
is
straight
and
the
lower
thread
forms
loops.
The
correct
tension
is
reached,
when
the
seams
between
both
layers
form
knots.
Lower
thread
tension
It
is
often
enough
to
correct
the
upper
thread
tension.
New
setting
of
lower
thread
tension
is
only
necessary
exceptionally.
When
newly
setting
the
lower
thread
tension,
take
the
screwdriver
off
the
accessories
tray
and
turn
the
larger
screw
by
ho
quarter.
To
the
left,
in
case
thread
is
too
tight
-
turn
to
the
right,
when
it
is
too
loose.
