Why Viking PS052907J Grill won’t light when the ignitor is pressed?

  If your Viking Grill won’t light when the ignitor is pressed, ensure the control knob is off (no gas is on). Remove the grill rack and flavor generator plates to watch the ignitor tip. When the button is pressed, a spark should jump from the ignitor tip. Check if other burners work, ensure the ignitor tip is clean and free from debris, and check the battery to the electronic ignition.

  If the burner lights but won't hold the flame after releasing the button, check if the thermocouple is kinked or bent away from the burner; if so, readjust it to lay flat against the burner. Ensure the safety valve button is depressed long enough until the burner remains lit. Also, inspect the infrared screen for black spots.
