The device in question is the Junior Plus Children's Rehabilitative Stroller, manufactured by MDH Sprzęt Medyczny. It is designed for children with disabilities and/or movement dysfunctions resulting from damage to the Central Nervous System, including those with Cerebral Palsy (CP), myelomeningocele, muscle disorders, and lower limb dysfunctions. The stroller is available in two sizes: Junior Plus 2 and Junior Plus 3.
Function Description
The Junior Plus stroller serves as a rehabilitative aid, providing support and mobility for children with specific medical needs. It is equipped with various adjustable features to ensure comfort, safety, and proper positioning for the user. These features include:
- Adjustable Seat Angle and Backrest: A lever allows for changing the angle of the seat and backrest to achieve a desired position. The Junior Plus 3 model includes an additional mechanism for backrest angle adjustment.
- Footrest Length and Position Adjustment: The footrest has a five-stage (Junior Plus 2) or seven-stage (Junior Plus 3) length adjustment, allowing it to be adapted to the child's leg length. Its position can also be adjusted up or down.
- Seat Depth Adjustment: Six knobs located under the seat enable adjustment of the seat depth, ensuring optimal support for the child's thighs.
- Side and Trunk Stabilizers Position Adjustment: The backrest features eight knobs for adjusting the position of both side and trunk stabilizers, crucial for maintaining proper posture and stability.
- Backrest Height Adjustment: Knobs on the backrest allow for adjusting its height to accommodate the child's torso.
- Armrest Height Adjustment: Knobs under the armrests facilitate adjustment of their height for comfort and support.
- 5-point Safety Belt System: A comprehensive safety belt system with shoulder belts, a central lock, and a central belt ensures the child is securely fastened, preventing falls or slipping. The length of these stabilizing belts can be adjusted.
- Twisting Motion Lock for Front Wheels: The front wheels are equipped with a lock to enable straight-ahead driving, preventing unwanted twisting motion.
- Brake System: Rear wheels are fitted with a brake system to prevent unplanned movement, ensuring the stroller remains stationary when needed.
- Direction of Travel Adjustment: The seat can be rotated 180 degrees relative to the corpus, allowing the child to face forward or backward.

Usage Features
The stroller is designed for ease of use and adaptability:
- Unfolding and Folding: The stroller unfolds by lifting the handle until a click is heard. Folding involves pulling two folding levers upwards simultaneously, releasing the lock, and separating the side frame connector, then directing the driving handle down. Rear wheels must be unlocked when folding.
- Wheel Attachment/Removal: Front wheels slide into the wheel handle from bottom to top until a click is heard. Rear wheels slide onto the axle in the rear part of the corpus. To remove, press the button at the base of the wheel handle for front wheels, and the button in the middle of the wheel for rear wheels.
- Basket Installation: The basket for small items attaches to the front part of the stroller's side frames with snaps and to the horizontal bar at the rear with Velcro.
- Canopy and Front Guard Installation: The canopy handles push onto the stroller support frame. The front guard attaches to the seat frame with clips.
- Sleeping Bag Installation: The sleeping bag hooks onto the footrest from the bottom.
- Raincover Installation: The raincover is placed from top to bottom, covering the canopy and stretching down to the footrest.
- Tray Installation: The tray replaces the front guard and can be adjusted for depth using two screws on the inside of the handle.
- Moving on Slopes: Caution is advised, and speed should be reduced. The maximum allowable slope is 5%.
- Overcoming Curbs/Thresholds: Position front wheels straight against the obstacle, place a foot on the lock at the back of the stroller, press lightly, and push the handle down to lift the front wheels. Once the front wheels are over, tilt the stroller forward to raise the rear wheels.
- Pumping Tyres: Identify the valve type (Presta or Schrader), prepare the appropriate pump, loosen the Presta valve's small top if applicable, remove the plastic top, attach the pump nozzle, and pump until the tire has enough air (slight indentation with thumb pressure).
Maintenance Features
Regular maintenance is crucial for the stroller's durability and performance:
- Cleaning: Plastic parts and the frame should be cleaned with a damp cloth without harsh detergents. Dirt from movable elements (screws, resistance mechanisms) and upholstery should be regularly removed with a damp cloth.
- Upholstery Washing: The upholstery can be hand-washed at 30°C. Do not use solvents, toilet detergents, sharp brushes, hard objects, chlorine-containing detergents, corrosive detergents, or pressure/steam cleaners.
- Fastener Check: Screws and nuts should be checked every two weeks to ensure they are tightly fixed.
- Wheel Axle Lubrication: Wheel axles should be lubricated monthly with a few drops of lubricating oil between the axle and the hub.
- Brake and Wheel Check: Before each use, check the condition of brakes and the twisting motion lock. Inspect wheels for wear and clean them from dust and sand.
- Storage: Avoid storing the stroller in areas with very high humidity (e.g., bathrooms, laundries) or in the open air, as this can lead to rapid deterioration. Protect from extreme weather conditions (rain, snow, strong sun) to prevent color changes.
- Damage Inspection: Before first use, check all elements for visible mechanical damage. If any damage is found, contact the manufacturer. Do not use the stroller if any parts are visibly or palpably damaged, or if worn parts indicate a potential accident risk.
- Professional Repairs: All repairs must be carried out by qualified personnel, and during the warranty period, only by the manufacturer's service.
