Why does the VLT FC 300 keep tripping the circuit breaker?
J
Jason ParkerAug 16, 2025
The circuit breaker might trip due to a phase to phase short, motor overload, or loose connections. Eliminate any shorts, perform a start-up test to verify the motor current is within specifications, and tighten any loose connections.

What to do if the motor is not running with my VLT Inverter Drive?
A
Ashlee SmallSep 12, 2025
If the motor isn't running, several factors could be at play. Ensure the service switch is properly connected and the motor connection is secure. If you're using a 24 V DC option card, make sure line power is applied to run the unit. Also, check if the LCP is in Stop mode; if so, press [Auto On] or [Hand On]. Verify that a start signal is present and that the motor coast signal is not active (apply 24 V on terminal 27 or program this terminal to No operation). Finally, ensure the reference signal source is correctly configured.

How to fix a dark display on my VLT FC 300?
V
Vincent PowersAug 22, 2025
A dark or non-functional display can stem from several causes: missing input power (check the input power source), missing or open fuses or a tripped circuit breaker (follow the recommendations provided), no power to the LCP (replace the faulty LCP or connection cable), a short circuit on the control voltage or at the control terminals (wire the terminals properly), an incorrect LCP (use only LCP 101 or LCP 102), a wrong contrast setting (press [Status] + ?/? to adjust the contrast), a defective display (LCP) (replace the faulty LCP or connection cable). If none of these solutions work, the internal voltage supply or SMPS may be defective, and you should contact your supplier.

Why is my VLT FC 300 motor running in the wrong direction?
C
Christie SilvaAug 26, 2025
The motor might be running in the wrong direction because of a motor rotation limit, an active reversing signal, or a wrong motor phase connection. Program the correct settings, deactivate the reversing signal, or see section 3.7 Check Motor Rotation in this manual.

What causes a motor current imbalance in VLT FC 300 Inverter Drive?
J
Jason HuynhAug 28, 2025
A motor current imbalance greater than 3% can be due to a problem with the motor or its wiring, or with the adjustable frequency drive unit itself. Try rotating the output motor leads one position: U to V, V to W, W to U.

How to troubleshoot line power current imbalance on VLT FC 300 Inverter Drive?
S
sanchezderekAug 31, 2025
A line power current imbalance greater than 3% may indicate a problem with the line power or the adjustable frequency drive unit. Try rotating the input power leads into the drive one position: A to B, B to C, C to A.

Why is the display on my VLT FC 300 Inverter Drive intermittent?
M
Michael BurkeSep 2, 2025
An intermittent display could be caused by an overloaded power supply (SMPS) due to improper control wiring or a fault within the adjustable frequency drive. If the display stays lit, check the wiring for shorts or incorrect connections. If the display continues to cut out, follow the procedure for a dark display.

Why is the motor speed unstable on my VLT Inverter Drive?
M
Michelle StewartSep 6, 2025
Unstable motor speed can be caused by incorrect parameter settings. Check settings in parameter group 1-6* Analog I/O mode. For closed-loop operation, check settings in parameter group 20-0* Feedback.

What causes a motor to run rough with VLT FC 300?
T
tina82Sep 8, 2025
A motor running roughly may be due to over-magnetization. Check the motor settings in parameter groups 1-2* Motor data, 1-3* Adv motor data, and 1-5* Load indep. setting.

What to do if the motor will not brake using VLT FC 300?
T
Timothy PatelSep 12, 2025
If the motor won't brake, the brake parameters might be set incorrectly, or the ramp-down times might be too short. Check parameter group 2-0* DC brake and 3-0* Reference limits.
