CONNECTION,START-UP,CHARGING
Ifthechargingvoltageisnotsetcorrectlyorwhenswitchingtoanon-matchingvoltage
rangeduringthechargingprocess,dischargeoranoverchargeoftheconnectedaccu-
mulatorwilloccurdependingoneachconguration.Incaseofanovercharge,notonly
theaccumulatorwillbedestroyed.Thereisadangerofreandexplosionaswell.
Nevercoverthechargerandtheaccumulator,inordertoavoiddamagesassociated
withheatbuildup.Alwaysobservecorrectpolaritywhenconnectingdevices.
Itisnormalthataccumulatorswithlowcapacityslightlywarmupwhencharging.
1. Settheslidingswitchoftheplug-incharger(1)ontheposition“2V/6V/12V”tothe
matchingnominalvoltageoftheaccumulatorsbeingcharged.
2. Connecttheplug-inchargertoamainssocket(100-240V/AC).
3. Connecttheaccumulatorwiththecrocodileclamps(2)tothecharger.Payattentionto
thecorrectpolarity.Theredcrocodileclampmustbeconnectedtothepositivepoleand
theblackcrocodileclamptothenegativepoleoftheaccumulator.Iftheaccumulatorpack
hasthecorrectpolarity,isnotdefective(high-resistance/disconnected)andconnected
tothemainssupply,thegreenchargingindicatorlightsup(3).Thechargingprocess
starts.Dependingonthecapacityoftheconnectedaccumulatoranditscondition(e.g.
accumulatorisoldornew;accumulatorisemptyordeeplydischargedetc.),thecharging
timewilldifferinlengths.Alarge,fullydischargedaccumulatorwithacapacityof12Ah,
forexample,maywelltakeseveraldaystocharge.
4. Whenthechargingendvoltagehasbeenreached,thechargingindicator(3)goesout
again.Thechargerwillnowsupplyonlyalowcurrenttomaintainthefullchargeoftthe
accumulator.
5. Stopcharging.Removetheaccumulatorfromthechargerandpullthechargeroutofthe
mainsoutlet.
SAFETYDEVICES
Dependingontheswitchposition,theplug-inchargerislimitedintheoutputvoltagetothe
chargingendvoltageofa“2V/6V/12Vlead-acidaccumulator”.Theinitialmax.charging
currentof600mAdropscontinuouslywhenitreachesthechargingendvoltage.Whenthe
accumulatorisfullychargedonlyasmallresidualcurrentkeepsowing(tricklecharging).
Thus,ifthevoltageselector(2V/6V/12V)issetcorrectly,aconnectedlead-acidaccumu-
latorcannotbeoverloaded.
Additionally,areversepolarityprotectionisintegrated.Iftheplug-inchargerisconnectedto
anaccumulatorwiththepolesreversed,theredLEDforthepolarityreversalprotection(4)
lightsup.Checkthepolarityoftheaccumulatorandtheconnectioncable.
Ifthechargeristoowarm,forexample,duetoashort-circuit,thechargingcurrentisauto-
maticallyreduced.
DISPOSAL
a)Product
Theproductmustnotbedisposedofinthehouseholdwaste.
Disposeoftheproductattheendofitsservicelifeinaccordancewiththeapplicable
regulatoryrequirements.
b)Accumulators
Astheenduser,youarerequiredbylaw(BatteryOrdinance)toreturnallspentaccumulators;
disposalinthehouseholdwasteisprohibited.
Accumulatorscontaininghazardoussubstancesarelabelledwiththesymbolshown
toindicatethatdisposalinhouseholdwasteisforbidden.Thesymbolsofthecritical
heavymetalsare:Cd=cadmium,Hg=mercury,Pb=lead(themarkingcanbeseen
ontheaccumulators,e.g.,underneaththerefusebinsymbolshownontheleft).
Youcanreturnusedaccumulatorsfreeofchargetoanycollectionfacilityinyourlocalauthor-
ity,toourstoresortoanyotherstorewhereaccumulatorsaresold.Youtherebyfullyour
statutoryobligationsandcontributetotheprotectionoftheenvironment.
