Overview

The CountEasy is a device designed for counting currency, specifically notes and coins, with advanced configuration options to tailor its operation to specific user needs. It is primarily used for accurately counting and managing cash, offering features that go beyond basic counting to include detailed calibration, tolerance settings, and currency management.

Function Description:

The core function of the CountEasy is to accurately count notes and coins by weight. It supports various denominations and allows for detailed configuration of these denominations. The device can operate in different modes, including loose count mode, pack check mode for notes, and auto check mode for coins, to recognize full packs or bags. It also has the capability to communicate with a host computer when set to 'online' mode, enabling data transfer and integration with other systems.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Software Version: The manual refers to software version CE2.6 and above.
  • Note Weight Adjustment Range: Individual note center weights can be adjusted through the keyboard within the range of 0.500g and 9.999g.
  • Coin Weight Adjustment Range: Individual coin center weights can be adjusted through the keyboard within the range of 0.500g and 9.999g.
  • Pack Size Adjustment Range: The number of coins or notes in a complete pack (Roll, Bag, or Note Pack) can be adjusted between 1 and 100 for each enabled denomination.
  • Pack Tolerance Adjustment Range: Tolerance for Pack Check Mode (notes) or Auto Check Mode (coins) can be set between ± 0.1 items to ± 5 items.
  • Calibration Weight: The device can be recalibrated using a calibrated 500g weight or two full bags of 20p's (100 coins total) that also weigh 500g.
  • Currency Support: The device supports loading factory data for different currencies, including STERLING, EURO, and USADOLLAR.
  • Connectivity: It can operate in an 'online' mode to communicate with a host computer.

Usage Features:

  • Entering Advanced Setup: The device offers a two-level setup process. Setup Level 1 is accessed by pressing and holding the (down) button and the (select) button for 4-5 seconds. Setup Level 2 is accessed by repeating this action after entering Setup Level 1.
  • Navigation:
    • The (scroll) button is used to move between options.
    • The (select) button is used to select an option.
    • The (ESC) button is used to move back an option or to leave Setup.
  • Note Enable/Disable: Users can enable (ON), disable (OFF), or set to 'NO SCROLL' individual note denominations. 'NO SCROLL' means the denomination is selectable but does not appear in the auto-scroll sequence. This feature is useful for future-proofing against changes in note weights or the introduction of new denominations, and for excluding specific denominations from counting or auto-scroll.
  • Note Weight Adjustment: Allows fine-tuning of the center weight for each note denomination. Changing this resets the internal learnt weight.
  • Coin Enable/Disable: Similar to notes, individual coin denominations can be set to ON, OFF, or NO SCROLL. This helps manage different coin types and adapt to changes in circulation.
  • Coin Weight Adjustment: Allows fine-tuning of the center weight for each coin denomination.
  • Pack Size Adjustment: Users can define the number of items in a standard pack (rolls, bags, note packs) for each denomination, which is crucial for Pack Check Mode and Auto Check Mode.
  • Pack Tolerance Adjustment: This feature allows setting a permissible range of items for a "good" pack or bag, accommodating minor variations in quantity. For example, a tolerance of ± 4 for a 100-coin bag means 96 to 104 coins would be accepted.
  • Set Online: Configures the device to communicate with a host computer. This is typically set to OFF by default and should only be changed after consulting the CountEasy helpdesk.
  • Load Currency: This option allows users to re-load factory data for the currently used currency or to switch to a different currency (e.g., from Sterling to Euros). It's important to note that loading a new currency will erase any previous learning, pack calibrations, and changes to center weights or note/coin enables.

Maintenance Features:

  • Calibration (500g): The device can be completely recalibrated using a 500g weight or two full bags of 20p's (100 coins). This is a last-resort troubleshooting step for miscounting issues. The calibration process involves placing and removing the weight/coins from the machine's hod according to on-screen prompts.
  • Reset Options: This menu option allows resetting all 'OPTIONS?' and CUP calibration settings to their original factory default values. It does not affect currency settings. The factory default settings include:
    • Language: GBR
    • Coin Packs: BAG
    • Auto Add: OFF
    • Auto Scroll: OFF
    • Cup: OFF
    • Sound: ON ERROR
    • Auto Pack Check: ON
    • Smartwedge: YES
    • Printing Order: DESCENDING
    • Auto Check First: OFF
    • Calibrate Cup: 58.50g
  • FlexiCup Calibration: The manual mentions that the FlexiCup supplied with the CountEasy will have already been pre-calibrated. If recalibration is needed, it should be done in conjunction with other pack calibrations.
  • Troubleshooting: For persistent inaccuracies or issues, users are advised to refer to the 'Frequently Asked Questions / Troubleshooting Guide' on the CountEasy website or contact the CountEasy Helpdesk.

The CountEasy is designed to be a robust and adaptable currency counting solution, offering extensive customization to meet diverse operational requirements while ensuring accuracy and efficiency in cash management.
