Maintenance and Care
Electrical Systems
The electrical system is 12 volts. The alternator produces 14 volts when the engine is running and has an integrated
voltage regulator. The engine also has circuit breakers and fuses, in a fuse box, which cut off the current if there is
an overload. The fuse box also contains relays for the starting and fuel injection circuits.
DANGER!
Explosion hazard! Never allow an open flame or sparks near the battery area. Always use eye protection
when working with the batteries. The battery electrolyte contains extremely corrosive sulfuric acid. If
electrolyte comes into contact with the skin, wash it off with soap and plenty of water. If battery acid
comes in contact with the eyes, immediately flush with abundant amounts of water. In either situation,
contact a doctor immediately.
