What to do if the power light is ON, but there is no picture on the screen with my VTech V.Smile Toy?
    • B
      Barry WoodsJul 26, 2025
If the power light is on but there's no picture, first ensure the yellow plug from the main unit is connected to the video IN terminal (usually yellow) on your TV. Also, verify that your TV is set to “video” mode and that you've selected the correct video input matching the port connected to the V.Smile™ unit. If problems persist, try disconnecting and reconnecting all power supplies (batteries and adaptor), then press the ON/RESTART Button. If that doesn't work, remove the Smartridge, inspect and clean the inside piece with a dry, soft cloth, then re-insert it and press the ON/RESTART Button again.

If you see a picture but hear no sound, first, raise the TV volume and ensure it isn't muted. Next, check that the white and/or red plug is firmly connected to the audio input of the TV. If the issue remains, disconnect and reconnect all power supplies (batteries and adaptor), then press the ON/RESTART Button. If the problem continues, remove the Smartridge, inspect the inside, clean it with a dry, soft cloth, and then re-insert the Smartridge and press the ON/RESTART Button.

If the power light doesn't turn on when you press the ON/RESTART Button, check that new batteries are correctly installed, or that an AC/DC adaptor (9V 300mA, center-positive) is properly connected to the main unit. If that doesn't work, disconnect all power supplies (batteries and adaptor), then reconnect all power supplies and press the ON/RESTART Button. If the problem continues, remove the Smartridge, inspect the inside, clean it with a dry, soft cloth, and then re-insert the Smartridge and press the ON/RESTART Button again.
