1 About this document
1.1 Purpose of this document
The Operating Instructions (OI) are an integral part of the
product and provide the information required to ensure correct
and safe operation.
1.2 Using this document

Read these Operating Instructions (OI) carefully before oper-
ating the unit.
u
Keep these instructions with the boat.
u
Hand these instructions on to the following owner or user
of the unit.
1.3 Use of symbols and highlighting
CAUTION
This signal word denotes a hazard with a low degree of
risk which, if not avoided, will lead to minor or moder-
ate injury.
NOTE
This signal word denotes a Special Technical Feature or
(if not observed) potential damage to the product.

1.4 Warranty and liability
Webasto shall not assume liability for defects or damages that
are the result of disregarding the installation and operating in-
structions. This liability exclusion particularly applies to:
l Installation by untrained personnel.
l Improper use.
l Repairs not carried out by a Webasto service workshop.
l Use of non-genuine parts.
l Conversion of the unit without permission from Webasto.
l Mechanical damage to the equipment.
l Non-compliance with inspection and maintenance instruc-
tions.
2 Safety
2.1 Intended use
The Marine Roof 50 Series is an electrically operated sliding roof
for ventilation purposes.
The roof is designed for a large range of applications and can
be easily installed in various boats.
It is suitable for fitting in area III and usage for boats with
design-category A according to ISO12216.
2.2 Safety information
CAUTION
Observe the following safety instructions.
Description
Attention
Possible damage due to weather conditions
and/or speed
Close the roof at:
-Speeds of above 30 kts.
-A sea state of more than 1 m.
-At wind speeds of more than 16 kts.
Keep all body parts and/or obstructions away
from the opening to prevent injury when closing
the roof.
Do not stand or walk on the roof!
Do not use the sliding roof as an escape hatch!
Ensure that another hatch is accessible for emer-
gencies.
Close the roof in case of rain or snow.
Keep the emergency key in proximity to the roof
for manual operation.
