S Keepthebladesharp.Adullbladeismore
likely to snag and thrust.
S Cutonlyatfullthrottle.Thebladewillhave
maximumcuttingpowerandislesslikelyto
bind or stall.
S Feed the blade deliberately and nottoo
rapidly.Thebladecanthrustawayifitisfed
too rapidly.
S Cutonlyfromyourrighttoyourleft.Swing-
ing the unit in the same direction as the
blade spins increases the cutting action.
S Usetheshoulderstrapandkeepafirmgrip
ontheunitwithbothhands.Aproperlyad-
justed shoulder strap will support the
weight of the unit, freeing your arms and
handstocontrolandguidethecuttingmo-
tion.
S Keep feet comfortably spread apart and
bracedforapossiblesudden,rapidthrustof
unit.Donotoverreach.Keepfirmfootingand
balance.
S Keepbladebelowwaistlevel;itwillbeeas-
ier to maintain control of unit.
S Donotraisetheengineaboveyourwaistas
thebladecancomedangerously closeto
your body.
S Donotswingunitwithsuchforcethatyou
are in danger of losing your balance.
Bringtheenginetocuttingspeedbeforeen-
tering the material to be cut.
Ifthebladedoesnotturnwhenyousqueeze
thethrottletrigger,makesuretubeisfullyin-
serted into the engine.
Alwaysreleasethethrottletriggerandallow
enginetoreturn toidle speedwhen notcut-
ting.Thebladeshouldnot turnwhile theen-
gineisrunningatidle.Ifthebladeturnsatidle,
donotuseyourunit.RefertotheCarburetor
adjustment section or contact your Autho-
rized Service Dealer.
S Maintain goodfirm footingwhile usingthe
unit.Dothisbyplantingfeetfirmlyinacom-
fortable apart position.
S Cut while swingingthe upperpart ofyour
body from right to left.
S Asyoumoveforwardtothenextareatocut,
besuretomaintainyourbalanceandfoot-
ing.

moving materials wrappedaround bladeor
tube.
REPLACING THE LINE
S Pushandholdtheenginestopswitchinthe
stop/off position until the unit has fully
stopped.
S Disconnect the spark plug lead wire.
S Removethe spoolby firmlypulling onthe
tap button.
S Clean entire surface of hub and spool.
S Replacewithapre-woundspool,orcuttwo
lengthsof12-1/2feetof.080(2mm)diam-
eterWeedEaterbrandline.Neverusewire,
rope,string,etc.,whichcanbreakoffand
become a dangerous missile.
S Insertendsoflineabout1/2inch(1cm)into
the small hole inside spool.

S Wind the line evenly and tightly onto the
spool. Wind in the directionof thearrows
found on the spool.
S Pushthelineintothenotches,leaving3to5
inches (7 -- 12 cm) unwound.
S Insertthe lineinto thethe exitholes inthe
hub as shown in the illustration.
S Align notches with the line exit holes.
S Push the spool into the hub until it snaps
into place.
S Pullthelineextendingoutsideofthehubto
release it from the notch.

CARBURETOR ADJUSTMENT
Yourcarburetorisequippedwithlimitercaps.
Damagewilloccurifyouturntheneedlesbe-
yondthelimitercaps.Adjustingthecarburetoris
acomplicatedtask.Werecommendthatyou
takeyourunittoanAuthorizedServiceDealer.
SPARK PLUG
ReplacesparkplugyearlywithaChampion
RCJ-8Y plug. Spark plug gap is .025 in.
IGNITION TIMING
Ignition timing is fixed, non-adjustable.
