      Christopher WoodAug 15, 2025
If your Weil-McLain boiler isn't working with a vent damper, make sure all wire connections are secure and check the transformer relay. Also, inspect for an open thermostat or circulator relay, loose wiring, a defective spill switch, a tripped rollout thermal fuse, or open LWCO or high limit contacts. If problems persist, consider replacing the actuator, pilot assembly, or ignition control. You can also try removing the damper harness from the boiler wiring harness.

If your Weil-McLain boiler system isn't working and there's no spark without a vent damper, check for open thermostat or circulator relay, loose wire connections, a defective spill switch, a rollout thermal fuse element, or open LWCO or limit contacts. Also, ensure all connections are securely fastened. If issues persist, consider replacing the damper plug, pilot assembly, or ignition control. Remember to turn OFF the supply voltage before securing any connections, then turn it back ON to re-test.

How to fix a Weil-McLain 4 Series Boiler vent damper failure?
    • S
      stephenscatherineAug 26, 2025
If the vent damper on your Weil-McLain boiler fails, move the damper service switch to the 'Hold Damper Open' position and apply a call for heat to the boiler. The damper blade should rotate open, and the boiler should fire. If this doesn't work, manually rotate the damper blade to the open position using a wrench or pliers. Note: Do not leave the vent damper permanently in this position; replace the actuator immediately to maintain boiler efficiency. First, turn off the power to the boiler, then turn it back on. You can manually rotate the damper blade until the green light turns on. Refer to the vent damper manufacturer’s instructions for procedure to fix vent damper in open position.
