4.4 Weinig hydro cutterhead 508 / 518
4.4.1 Safety
The Weinig hydro cutterhead 508 / 518 is a heavy-duty
cutter. The illustration on the right shows, from top to
bottom: hydro groove cutterhead, hydro tongue
cutterhead, hydro bevel cutterhead, hydro tapered
groove cutterhead. All the relevant safety regulations
and the instructions in this operating manual must be
closely followed in order to ensure safe use and
handling of this tool.
Please read these instructions through carefully before
using the tool.
4.4.2 Intended use
The profile cutterhead is only approved for mechanical
feed systems and is used for the following purposes:
Planing and profiling work on solid wood (hard and soft
wood) and wood substitutes.
Applications: see technical data.
4.4.3 Special safety instructions
Note the markings for the minimum cutter clamping
length at the tool ends.
Clamping ledges and cutters must always be
clamped with at least two clamping screws.
The length of the clamping ledge must correspond
with that of the cutters when using narrow cutters.
Remove any unused clamping screws when using
shorter clamping ledges.
Check that the cutters are correctly seated in the
serration.
Insert all cutters in the serration in the same position
(distance from bottom of groove).
Cutters must be fitted successively on opposite
sides.
The tool must always be fitted in the machine with
anti-twist device.
The clamping pressure (300 bar) must be checked
daily with the aid of a grease gun before starting up
the machine.
Recommended grease: Shell Alvania Fett RL2.
