Removal

Remove
pulley
pulley.
front
crankshaft
retaining
nut
and

timing
gear
cover.

pump
drive
gear
with
cover.

Remove
idler
gear
retaining
bolt
(

,
thrust
plate
(2),
idle
gear
(3),
and
bushing.

Remove
camshaft
nut

thrust
gear

retaining

and

Remove
the
camshaft
assembly
as
follows:

Position
engine
block
so
that
the
cylinder
head
mounting
surface
is
down.
b.
Carefully
withdraw
the
camshaft
(1)
from
the
engine
block.
c.
Remove
all
push
rod
solid
lifters
from
engine
block.
Remove
the
injection
follows:
front
plate
pump
assembly
and
as
a.
Loosen
attaching
bolts
(1).
b.
Remove
front
plate.
c.
Late
models:
injection
pump
drive
gear
is
retained
on
bearing
on
front
plate;
use
suitable
puller
to
remove.
