What to do if Westinghouse WIM1200WD Refrigerator drips water on the floor?
    • M
      Mr. Joseph HuertaAug 14, 2025
If your Westinghouse Refrigerator is dripping water on the floor, the defrost water tray (located at the back or underneath the cabinet) might not be properly positioned, or the drain tube may not be directing water into the tray correctly. To resolve this, pull the refrigerator away from the wall and check the positioning of both the tray and the tube.

Why does my Westinghouse Refrigerator motor run so much?
    • Q
      qsmithAug 31, 2025
There are several reasons why the motor in your Westinghouse Refrigerator might be running more than expected. It could be due to doors being opened too frequently or for extended periods. Also, placing large quantities of warm food inside the refrigerator can cause the motor to run longer. Additionally, the refrigerator will run more than normal just after installation or after being turned off for an extended period. Finally, warmer ambient temperatures can also cause the refrigerator to run more than usual.

Why is my Westinghouse Refrigerator motor running constantly?
    • E
      ericreillySep 10, 2025
If the motor in your Westinghouse Refrigerator runs more than you'd expect, consider a few factors. Are the doors being opened frequently or left open for extended periods? Have you recently stored a large amount of warm food inside? A hot day or a very warm room can also cause the refrigerator to run more. Keep in mind that the refrigerator will run more than usual immediately after installation or after being turned off for a long time.

Overview

This document serves as a user manual for Westinghouse Refrigeration products, specifically covering Bar Fridges with Ice Box, All Refrigerators, and Upright Freezers. The models addressed include WIM1000WC, WIM1200WD, WIM1200AE, WRM1400WD, WRM2400WE, WFM0900WD, and WFM1700WE. The manual provides essential information for safe installation, operation, and maintenance of these appliances.

Function Description

The Westinghouse refrigeration appliances covered in this manual are designed for domestic use, suitable for various environments such as staff kitchen areas, farmhouses, hotels, motels, and bed and breakfast establishments. They serve to store food and beverages at controlled temperatures, with specific models offering ice-making capabilities or dedicated freezer compartments.

Bar Fridges with Ice Box (WIM1000WC, WIM1200WD, WIM1200AE): These models feature a compact refrigeration compartment with an integrated ice box for making ice cubes. The WIM1000 model's ice box is primarily for ice making, not for frozen food storage. Temperature control adjusts both the fridge and ice box compartments.

Bar Refrigerators Without Ice Box (WRM1400WD): These are single-door all-refrigerator models designed solely for chilling food and beverages, without a dedicated ice box or freezer compartment.

Single Door All Refrigerator (WRM2400WE): Similar to the bar refrigerators, this is a single-door appliance focused on refrigeration, featuring multiple shelves, a crisper, and door bins for organized storage. It includes an LED light and a controller box for temperature management.

Bar Freezer (WFM0900WD): This is a compact upright freezer with multiple freezer bins and temperature control, designed for storing frozen foods.

Single Door All Freezer (WFM1700WE): A larger upright freezer model with multiple drawers, glass shelves, and a control panel for precise temperature management. It includes a "Super Freeze" function for rapid freezing.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Power Supply: All appliances operate on a 220-240V, 50Hz AC electrical outlet. A dedicated, properly earthed three-pin socket is required.
  • Refrigerant: The appliances contain R600a refrigerant. Users are warned to avoid damaging the refrigerant circuit during transportation and installation. The room for installing the appliance must be at least 1m³ per 8g of refrigerant, with the amount of refrigerant charged specified on the appliance's rating plate.
  • Ventilation: Minimum clearances are recommended for proper air circulation: 30mm on each side, 30mm above, and 50mm minimum/75mm maximum behind the refrigerator. For WRM2400/WFM1700 with a cupboard above and a rear gap less than 100mm, the top clearance increases to 70mm.
  • Temperature Range: The temperature control allows adjustment from "warm" to "coldest" or "freezing" settings, depending on the model. For freezers, the recommended temperature is -18°C.
  • Defrosting: WIM1200, WRM1400, and WRM2400 models feature an automatic de-icing system for the fridge compartment. WIM1000 and WFM0900WD require manual de-icing of their ice box/freezer compartments when frost reaches about 4mm thickness, or at least once a year.
  • Lamp Type: WIM1000 uses a 15-watt screw-in lamp. WIM1200, WRM1400, and WRM2400 models are fitted with non-user-serviceable LED lights.

Usage Features

  • Temperature Control: Appliances are equipped with control knobs or digital control panels (WFM1700) to set the desired temperature. Adjustments should be made in small increments, allowing 24 hours for the temperature to stabilize.
  • Door Reversibility: The door opening direction can be reversed from right to left (as supplied) on most models (WIM1200, WRM2400, WFM1700, WFM0900, WIM1200, WRM1400). This requires specific tools and careful adherence to the provided instructions, including disconnecting the appliance from the mains power.
  • Levelling: Adjustable levelling legs are provided to ensure the appliance is stable and level, allowing doors to self-close from a partially open position.
  • Ice Making (Ice Box Models): Ice cubes are made by filling the ice tray with water and placing it in the ice box. Twisting the tray under running water helps in easy removal.
  • Super Freeze (WFM1700): This function rapidly lowers the freezer temperature to -24°C, ideal for freezing large quantities of fresh food quickly. It automatically deactivates after 52 hours.
  • Door Alarm (WFM1700): An alarm sounds and an indicator flashes if the freezer door is left open for over one minute, helping to save energy and maintain temperature.
  • Food Storage: Recommendations include wrapping all food in freezer bags, avoiding storage of unsealed corned or pickled products, and allowing the appliance to run for an hour or two (three hours for freezers) before stocking food.

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning:
    • General Cleaning: Before cleaning, the refrigerator must be switched off and unplugged. The interior and exterior should be cleaned with lukewarm soapy water and a soft cloth.
    • Silver Finish: Models with a mark-resistant silver metal look steel finish should be cleaned regularly with lukewarm soapy water and a soft cloth. Avoid stainless steel cleaners, abrasive pads, hot water, solvents, or harsh chemicals.
    • Telescopic Extension Slides: If present, these should be wiped with a damp cloth and not immersed in water.
  • De-icing:
    • Automatic Defrost: For models with automatic defrost, the rear inside of the fridge may appear frosty or wet, which is normal as water evaporates automatically.
    • Manual Defrost: For models requiring manual defrost (WIM1000 ice box, WFM0900WD freezer), the appliance must be switched off and unplugged, food removed, and the door left open to allow frost to soften. Hot water pans can speed up the process. A plastic scraper should be used to remove softened frost; never use metal or sharp tools.
  • Lamp Replacement (WIM1000): The light bulb can be replaced by unscrewing it anti-clockwise after disconnecting power. Only appropriate 15-watt screw-in lamps should be used. For LED lights in other models, replacement must be done by an authorized service centre.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual includes a troubleshooting guide for common issues such as the motor running excessively, incorrect temperatures, water dripping, heavy frosting, and odours. It advises checking power connections, temperature settings, door sealing, and cleaning.
  • Warranty: The product comes with a warranty in Australia (24 months for the appliance, plus additional years for specific components like compressor, condenser, evaporator, and drier) and New Zealand (24 months). Proof of purchase is required for claims. The warranty does not cover cosmetic damage, damage from misuse, improper installation, normal wear and tear, or unauthorized repairs.
