Overview

This document is a user manual for 90cm Electric Built-In Ovens from Westinghouse, covering models WVE915SC, WVE915SCA, WVE915DSCA, WVEP916SC, and WVEP917DSC. It provides comprehensive information on the appliance's functions, installation, usage, and maintenance.

Function Description:

The ovens offer a variety of cooking functions to suit different needs.

  • Rapid Heat/AirFry: This function provides quicker pre-heating (30% faster) or can be used for frying. It utilizes elements surrounding the fans and a smaller element above the food. For AirFry, food is placed on a mesh tray, spread evenly, and positioned in the middle of the oven.
  • Fan Forced/Fan Bake: Heat comes from elements surrounding the fans, circulating hot air for multi-shelf cooking, reheating, pastries, and complete oven meals. It cooks at a lower temperature and faster than baking.
  • Bake/Pizza: This function uses two elements (one above, one below) controlled by a thermostat. It's ideal for pizza, biscuits, scones, muffins, cakes, slices, casseroles, baked puddings, and delicate egg dishes.
  • Base Heat: Heat comes from the element below the oven floor, controlled by a thermostat. It's used for extra browning of pizza bases, pies, and pastries, cooking on the lower half of the oven with one shelf.
  • Fan Assist: Uses two elements (one above, one below) with circulating hot air. Suitable for multi-shelf cooking (maximum 2 shelves, not the bottom shelf).
  • Pizza (Combination of Base Heat and Fan Forced): Combines the benefits of both functions, ideal for foods requiring base cooking and browning like pizzas, quiches, meat pies, and fruit pies. Food is placed in the middle of the oven.
  • Defrost: Uses low-temperature air circulated by fans to thaw food, raise yeast dough, or dry fruit, vegetables, and herbs.
  • Fan & Grill: Combines "Bake" and "Grill" functions, with the grill element turning on/off to maintain temperature while fans circulate heated air. The oven door remains closed. Ideal for large cuts of meat (similar to rotisserie). Food is placed on the second lowest shelf, with the grill dish on the lowest shelf to catch spills. No need to turn food during cooking. Temperature setting is 180°C.
  • Grill: Directs radiant heat from the powerful upper element onto the food. Used for tender cuts of meat, steak, chops, sausages, fish, cheese toasties, and quick cooking foods. The oven door remains closed. Preheat for 3 minutes for best results.
  • Left Grill (WVEP917DSC only): Directs radiant heat from only one of the powerful upper elements. Used when only half the grill area is needed, with two temperature settings (LO and HI). The oven door remains closed.
  • Maxi Grill/Full Grill: Directs radiant heat from two powerful upper elements. Used for tender cuts of meat, steak, chops, sausages, fish, cheese toasties, and other quick cooking foods. The oven door remains closed. Allows full advantage of the large grill dish area and cooks faster than normal grill. Preheat for 3 minutes for best results.
  • Easy Bake Steam (WVEP917DSC only): Adds humidity at the beginning of baking for moist interiors and crispy crusts. Water is added to a cavity well when the oven is cold, before preheating.
  • Pyro Clean (WVEP916SC & WVEP917DSC only): Self-cleaning function that burns off spatters, dirt, and grease at high temperatures, leaving ash to be wiped out.
  • Roast (WVEP917DSC only): Utilizes heat from all elements with the fan for even cooking and enhanced browning of meats and poultry. Starts at a higher temperature (e.g., 220°C) to seal meat, then automatically reduces to the selected temperature (e.g., 200°C).

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Dimensions: 90cm electric built-in ovens.
  • Cabinet Requirements: Designed for built-in installation below a benchtop or into a vertical cabinet. Surrounding kitchen cabinets must withstand 85°C. Vents, openings, and airspaces must not be blocked.
  • Weight: Approximately 70kg, requiring two persons for installation.
  • Electrical Connection: Must be installed by an authorised person according to AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules and local regulations. Supply cord size required: 2.5mm² for WVE915SC/WVE915SCA/WVE915DSCA, and 4.0mm² for WVEP916SC/WVEP917DSC. The appliance must be earthed.
  • Clock Display: 24-hour display.
  • Automatic Switch-Off: For safety reasons, the oven automatically turns off after a period of time if no settings are changed (e.g., 12.5 hours for temperatures <120°C, 3 hours for 250°C).
  • Safety Cut-out Feature: The oven automatically switches off if the temperature is not adjusted or the appliance is left operating after a period of time.

Usage Features:

  • Control Panel: Models WVE915SC and WVEP916SC feature knob controls with an electronic clock display. Models WVE915SCA, WVE915DSCA, and WVEP917DSC feature programmable electronic touch controls with a more detailed display.
