This document provides a comprehensive guide for operating and maintaining a Whirlpool washing machine, covering its functions, usage features, and maintenance procedures.
The washing machine offers a variety of programs tailored for different fabric types and soil levels. The "ON/OFF" button powers the machine, while the program selector allows users to choose from options like "Mixed," "White," "Cotton," "eCotton," "Sport," "Duvet," "Jeans," "Spin & Drain," "Rinse & Spin," "Rapid 30'," "Colours 15°," "Wool," "Delicates," and "Synthetics." Each program has a default temperature and spin speed, which can be adjusted using the "Temperature" and "Spin" buttons, respectively. The "Start/Pause" button initiates or pauses a wash cycle.
The machine features a "Start delay" option, enabling users to set a later start time for a program. The "FreshCare+" option enhances washing performance by generating steam to inhibit bad odors and performs gentle tumbling after the cycle ends for up to six hours. A "Key lock" function prevents unintentional changes to programs, particularly useful when children are nearby.
The detergent dispenser is divided into compartments for prewash detergent, main wash detergent, stain remover, water softener, and fabric softener/liquid starch. A removable plastic partition is provided for precise liquid detergent dosage in the main wash compartment.
The display indicates the current washing phase, remaining time, and any active options. It also shows error codes or warnings, such as "Door locked," "FreshCare+ activated," "Start delay activated," "Key lock activated," "Failure: Call Service," "Failure: Water filter clogged," and "Failure: No water."
Before first use, it is recommended to run a "Cotton" program at 60°C with a small quantity of detergent powder (1/3 of the recommended amount for lightly soiled laundry) without any actual laundry. This helps remove manufacturing debris.
For daily use, laundry should be sorted by fabric type, care label, and color. New colored items should be washed separately. Delicates should be placed in a cloth bag or pillowcase. All pockets must be emptied to prevent damage to the laundry and drum.
To start a cycle, load the laundry, close the door, open the water tap, and press the "ON/OFF" button. Select the desired program and any options. Adjust temperature and spin speed as needed. Add detergent and additives to the dispenser according to the detergent pack recommendations. Close the detergent dispenser and press "Start/Pause." The door will lock, and the drum will begin rotating.
To pause a running program, press "Start/Pause." The indicator light will flash, and the remaining time will be displayed. To open the door during a paused program, ensure the water level and temperature are not too high; the "Door locked" indicator light will turn off. Press "Start/Pause" again to resume the program.
At the end of a program, the "Door locked" indicator light will turn off, and "End" will be displayed. The machine will automatically switch off after about half an hour if the "ON/OFF" button is not pressed. After unloading laundry, leave the door ajar to allow the drum to dry.
The machine provides flexibility in adjusting spin speed and temperature for most programs. The "Start delay" option allows users to postpone the start of a cycle. The "FreshCare+" option can be interrupted at any time by pressing any button on the control panel or turning the knob.
For bleaching, select the "Rinse & Spin" program. After the first water filling cycle (approximately 2 minutes), pause the machine, open the detergent drawer, and pour bleach into the main wash compartment. Restart the cycle. Fabric softener can be added to its designated compartment if desired.
Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the machine's longevity. Always switch off and unplug the washing machine before performing any maintenance. Do not use flammable fluids for cleaning.
The outside of the machine should be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using glass or general-purpose cleaners, scouring powder, or similar substances on the control panel, as they can damage the printing.
The water supply hose should be checked regularly for brittleness and cracks. If damaged, it must be replaced. For hoses with a transparent coating, periodically check for local color intensification, which may indicate a leak.
The mesh filters in the water supply hose need regular cleaning. To do this, close the tap, loosen the inlet hose from the tap, clean the internal mesh filter, and re-screw the hose. Then, unscrew the inlet hose from the washing machine, pull off the mesh filter with universal pliers, clean it, refit it, and re-screw the hose. Turn on the tap and ensure water-tight connections.
The water filter should be cleaned regularly to prevent drainage issues. If the water cannot drain, the display will indicate a clogged filter. If a hot wash program was used, wait for the water to cool down before draining. To clean the filter, remove the plinth using a screwdriver. Place a container beneath the filter to collect residual water. Slowly turn the filter counterclockwise until water flows out. Once the container is full, close the filter by turning it clockwise, empty the container, and repeat until all water has drained. Place a cotton cloth beneath the filter to absorb any remaining water. Then, remove the filter completely by turning it anti-clockwise, clean it under running water, and reinsert it, ensuring it is turned in as far as it goes and the handle is in a vertical position. To test for water tightness, pour about 1 liter of water into the detergent dispenser before reinstalling the plinth.
In case of any anomalies, the troubleshooting section provides possible causes and solutions, such as checking the power plug, water tap, door closure, hose connections, and detergent dosage. If problems persist, contacting After-Sales Service is recommended.
For transport and handling, always unplug the machine, close the water tap, and ensure the door and detergent dispenser are properly closed. Disconnect and drain the inlet and drain hoses, securing them to prevent damage. Reinstall the transport bolts in reverse order of removal. Never lift the washing machine by its worktop.
