Why won't my Whirlpool Washer run or fill, or why does it stop working?
    • K
      Kristine WallsAug 21, 2025
If your Whirlpool Washer won’t run, fill, or stops working, here are some things to check: * Make sure both hoses are attached and have water flowing to the inlet valve, and that both hot and cold water faucets are turned on. Also, check that the inlet valve screens are not clogged and that there are no kinks in the inlet hoses. * Ensure the power cord is plugged into a grounded 3-prong outlet and that there is power to the outlet. Do not use an extension cord. * The door must be completely closed and latched for the washer to run. Also, be aware that the washer will pause during certain phases of the cycle, and it may stop to reduce suds. If the load is unbalanced, remove several items and rearrange the load evenly in the washer drum.

What does “Sd” (Excess suds) mean on my Whirlpool W10656457B Washer display and what to do?
    • D
      David MerrittAug 23, 2025
If you see “Sd” (Excess suds) on your Whirlpool Washer display, it means there are excessive suds in the washer, and it is running a suds reduction routine. Allow the washer to continue. Make sure you are using only HE detergent and always measure the detergent, basing the quantity on the load size. Follow the detergent manufacturer’s instructions.

What to do if “Lo” followed by “FL” or “F8” followed by “E1” (water supply error) appears on my Whirlpool W10656457B display?
    • M
      Matthew NelsonAug 26, 2025
If you see “Lo” followed by “FL” or “F8” followed by “E1” on your Whirlpool Washer display, it indicates a water supply error. The unit will drain for 8 minutes while the door remains locked. Once complete, touch POWER once to clear the code, and then touch POWER again to restart the washer. Make sure both hoses are attached and have water flowing to the inlet valve, both hot and cold water faucets are on, inlet valve screens on the washer are not clogged, there are no kinks in the inlet hose, and auto shut off connectors and hoses, if used, are properly installed and in working order. If the code appears again, call for service.

What to do if “F9” followed by “E1” (drain pump system error) appears on my Whirlpool Washer display?
    • W
      William WarnerAug 27, 2025
If “F9” followed by “E1” appears on the display of your Whirlpool Washer, it indicates a drain pump system error. Check the plumbing for correct drain hose installation, ensuring the drain hose does not extend into the standpipe farther than 4 1/2" (114 mm). Also, make sure the drain hose is not kinked, pinched, or blocked, and remove any clogs from it. Use the drain hose form and securely attach it to the drainpipe or tub. Lower the drain hose if the end is higher than 96" (2.4 m) above the floor. Finally, ensure you are using only HE detergent and measuring it correctly based on load size and soil level.

What to do if “F5” followed by “E2” (door will not lock) appears on my Whirlpool W10656457B display?
    • W
      wpriceSep 1, 2025
If “F5” followed by “E2” appears on your Whirlpool Washer display, it means the washer door is not locking. Touch POWER to cancel the cycle. Make sure the door is closed completely and latching. Check for items in the washer drum that may be keeping the door from closing completely.

Why is there water or suds leaking from the door or rear of my Whirlpool Washer cabinet?
    • M
      Mark DavidSep 3, 2025
If you notice water or suds leaking from the door or rear of your Whirlpool Washer cabinet, it's often due to using non-HE detergent or using too much HE detergent. Only use HE detergent. Suds from regular detergents can cause leaking. Always measure detergent and follow the manufacturer’s directions based on your load requirements. Also, periodically clean the underside of the glass window to avoid potential leaks. Water can drip off the inside of the door when the door is opened after the start of a cycle. This is normal for an HE front load washer. The washer senses load sizes and adds the correct amount of water for optimal cleaning.

What should I do if an “F# E#” code other than described appears on my Whirlpool Washer display?
    • U
      uyoungSep 5, 2025
If an “F# E#” code other than described appears on your Whirlpool Washer display, it indicates a system error. Touch POWER once to clear the code, then touch POWER again to restart the washer. If the code appears again, call for service.

Why does my Whirlpool W10656457B Washer make gurgling or humming noises?
    • C
      Corey TorresSep 7, 2025
The pump may make a humming sound with periodic gurgling or surging as final amounts of water are removed during the spin/drain cycles. This is normal at certain stages of the cycle.

    Victoria AllenSep 9, 2025
What does “nt” (interrupted) mean on my Whirlpool Washer display?
    • J
      Jose CastilloSep 9, 2025
If “nt” (interrupted) appears on your Whirlpool Washer display, it means the cycle was paused or canceled. The washer can take 20 to 30 minutes to stop spinning and drain and will display this error code during that time. Touch POWER once to clear the code, then touch POWER again to restart the washer.

Why is my Whirlpool W10656457B not draining/spinning and loads are still wet?
    • M
      Michael CrosbySep 12, 2025
If your Whirlpool Washer isn't draining or spinning, and your clothes are still wet, consider these possibilities: * Ensure you're using only HE detergent and measuring it correctly according to the manufacturer's directions. * Check the drain hose for clogs or if it's positioned more than 96" above the floor; lower it if necessary. * Avoid tightly packed or unbalanced loads. If washing a single item, balance it with a few extra items. Also, make sure that both hoses are attached properly to both the washer and faucet, that there is hot and cold water flowing to the inlet valve, and that the inlet valve screens are not clogged. Remove any kinks in the hoses.
