Function Description

The Whirlpool WF2B290 is a household refrigerator designed for storing food and beverages. It features separate compartments for refrigeration and freezing, allowing for optimal preservation of different food types. The refrigerator includes a "Fast Freeze Mode" to rapidly lower the freezer temperature, preserving the nutrients of fresh food for longer. It also offers a "Holiday Mode" for energy saving during extended periods of non-use, where the fridge compartment temperature is relatively higher while the freezer operates normally. The appliance is equipped with an automatic defrost function, eliminating the need for manual defrosting.

Usage Features

Installation and Placement: The refrigerator should be placed on a flat and solid floor, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. It requires adequate ventilation, with at least 10cm of space above and 5cm from the sides and back to the wall. The adjustable feet allow for leveling the appliance. It is crucial not to invert, horizontally lay, squeeze, or vibrate the refrigerator during movement, and the tilt should not exceed 45 degrees. Before connecting to power, the refrigerator should rest for at least 6 hours after installation and adjustment.

Initial Setup and Power On: Upon first use, it is recommended to set the fridge compartment temperature to "4". After connecting to power and closing the doors, check if the compressor is operating normally and if the sides of the refrigerator are heating up (a normal phenomenon). Foods can be placed in the refrigerator 2-3 hours after startup (4 hours if room temperature is high).

Control Panel: The control panel features a "Fridge Temperature Setting Key" to adjust the temperature (range 2°C to 8°C, "4" recommended for normal use), a "Fast Freeze Symbol" to indicate fast freeze mode, a "Holiday Mode Symbol" for energy-saving mode, and a "Power On/Off Key" to switch the refrigerator on or off.

Temperature Control: The fridge compartment temperature can be adjusted using the "Fridge Temperature Setting Key". The display will show corresponding figures (8°C - 6°C - 5°C - 2°C - 3°C - 4°C), with "2" being the coolest. Users are advised against setting the temperature too cold (e.g., "8" or "2") for extended periods in high ambient temperatures, as this may cause the compressor to run continuously.

Fast Freeze Mode: Activated by pressing the "Fridge Temperature Setting Key" for 3 seconds, this mode rapidly lowers the freezer temperature to preserve food nutrients. It runs for 52 hours automatically before switching off. It can be manually deactivated by pressing the same key, reverting to the previous temperature setting.

Holiday Mode: Activated by continuously pressing the "Fridge Temperature Setting Key" until the "Holiday Mode Symbol" lights up. This mode is suitable for long periods of non-use, raising the fridge compartment temperature for energy saving while the freezer operates normally. Storing food in the fridge compartment during this mode is not recommended. It can be deactivated by pressing the key again until the symbol turns off.

Freezer Compartment Usage: Used for storing frozen food and making ice. Foods requiring long-term freezing should be placed here. Hot foods must be cooled to room temperature before freezing. Raw and cooked foods should be stored separately. Small packages are recommended for easy access and energy saving. Eggs, vegetables, potatoes, milk, and bean products are not suitable for freezing.

Ice Tray: To make ice, fill the tray 4/5 with water and place it in the freezer. Once frozen, twist the tray to separate the ice cubes. Avoid bending the tray to prevent breakage. Do not hold the ice tray directly with wet hands to prevent sticking and injury.

Fridge Compartment Usage: Suitable for non-frozen foods, beverages, eggs, canned liquids, and packed foods. Door racks are removable for cleaning. Glass shelves can be adjusted for flexible storage. The vegetable compartment, mounted on telescopic extension slides, is designed for storing vegetables and fruits, with humidity control via a sliding block. Its cover helps control temperature and prevent moisture loss. When removing the vegetable compartment, empty it first, pull it forward, then lift it off the slides.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning: Always unplug the refrigerator before cleaning. Regular cleaning of the interior, door shelves, drawers, and vegetable compartments with a wet cloth and neutral detergent is recommended monthly to prevent odors. The door seal should also be removed and cleaned carefully. The back of the refrigerator and the ground should be cleaned periodically to improve cooling efficiency and energy saving. Avoid using hot water, abrasive cleaners, strong acids/alkalis, organic solvents (gasoline, thinner, alcohol, benzene), or stiff brushes. Do not spray water directly on the appliance.

Compressor Maintenance: Dust accumulation on the compressor increases energy consumption. Clean the compressor at the back of the appliance once a year with a soft brush or vacuum cleaner. Check the water drain hole on the rear wall of the refrigerator compartment.

Long-term Storage: If the refrigerator will not be used for a long time, unplug it, clean and dry the interior, leaving a small gap in the door, and store it in a dry, ventilated place.

Lighting: The fridge uses LED lamps. In case of any abnormalities, contact customer service.

Defrost: The refrigerator features an automatic defrost function. If frost appears on the air flow panel, it can be wiped clean with a dry cloth.

Troubleshooting: The manual provides a detailed troubleshooting guide for common issues such as the refrigerator not working, poor cooling performance, food freezing in the fridge, abnormal noise, odors, continuous operation in high temperatures, and difficulty closing the door. It advises users to check simple solutions before contacting customer service. For instance, if the refrigerator isn't working, check the power connection and voltage. If cooling is poor, check for overcrowding, frequent door openings, sufficient ventilation space, and proper door sealing. If problems persist, users are instructed not to disassemble or repair the appliance themselves but to contact the service center.
