Function Description:

The device is a freestanding gas range designed for cooking. It features a cooktop with multiple burners and an oven/broiler for baking and broiling. The range utilizes an electronic ignition system for lighting burners, eliminating the need for standing pilots.

    • Flexible Connector: New CSA design-certified, 4 to 5 ft (122 to 152.4 cm) long, 1/2" (1.3 cm) or 3/4" (1.9 cm) I.D. flexible metal appliance connector.
    • Shutoff Valve: Manual shutoff valve required, located in the same room but external to the range opening, allowing ease of access.
    • Gas Pressure Regulator: Supplied with the range and must be used.
      • Natural Gas Inlet Pressure: Minimum 5" WCP, Maximum 14" WCP.
      • LP Gas Inlet Pressure: Minimum 11" WCP, Maximum 14" WCP.
    • Burner Input Ratings: For elevations up to 2,000 ft (609.6 m). Above 2,000 ft, ratings are reduced by 4% per 1,000 ft (304.8 m) (not applicable for Canada).

Usage Features:

  • Electronic Ignition System: Cooktop burners ignite by turning the control knob to "IGNITE," which creates a spark. Oven burners use a hot surface igniter that heats to a bright orange to ignite the gas.
  • Cooktop Burner Operation: Control knobs allow adjustment from "IGNITE" to "HIGH" and "LOW" settings. Proper flame should have a distinct blue inner cone (1/4" to 1/2" long) and a less distinct outer cone. Low flame should be minimum, steady blue, 1/4" to 3/8" high.
  • Oven/Broil Burner Operation: Electronic oven control with "BAKE" and "BROIL" pads. Oven preheats to selected temperature (e.g., 350°F/175°C). Oven burner cycles on and off to maintain temperature. Broil function uses the same burner. Oven flame should be 1/2" (1.3 cm) long with a bluish-green inner cone and dark blue outer mantle, free of yellow tips, blowing, or lifting.
  • Leveling Legs: Adjustable leveling legs allow for height adjustment up to 1" (2.5 cm) to ensure the range is level, which is critical for satisfactory baking performance. A minimum of 3/16" (0.5 cm) is needed to engage the anti-tip bracket.
  • Anti-Tip Bracket: Essential safety feature that prevents the range from tipping over. It must be securely installed to the floor or wall and the rear range foot engaged in its slot. The range should not be operated without the anti-tip bracket installed and engaged.

Maintenance Features:

  • Gas Connection Leak Testing: All gas connections must be tested for leaks using an approved noncorrosive leak-detection solution. Bubbles indicate a leak, which must be corrected.
  • Burner Flame Adjustment:
    • Low Flame (Cooktop): Can be adjusted by inserting a small flat-blade screwdriver into the valve stem and turning it to obtain the smallest flame that will not go out when quickly turned from "HIGH" to "LOW."
    • Oven Flame: Air shutter near the rear wall of the oven can be loosened and adjusted to achieve proper flame.
  • Cleaning: Waxy residue from shipping materials can be removed with a mild solution of liquid household cleaner and warm water, then dried with a soft cloth.
  • Gas Conversions: The range can be converted between Natural gas and LP gas by a qualified service technician. This involves replacing orifice spuds for cooktop and oven burners and adjusting the gas pressure regulator. Specific orifice spuds are provided for each gas type and burner.
  • Troubleshooting: The document advises checking the household fuse/circuit breaker, ensuring the range is plugged into a grounded outlet, verifying the gas pressure regulator shutoff valve is in the "ON" position, and confirming electrical supply connection if the range does not operate.
