Removing timing belt
1. Refer to Fig. 79 and remove Arm Top Cover
O and Oil Reservoir 0.
2. Refer to Fig.80. Loosen four Screws©, draw
out Handwheel o to the right while turning
it slowly.
Replacing timing belt
(— Note:
For the machine equipped with the metering
device, refer to Fig. 81. Remove Nut © and
Washer ©. Draw out Handwheel O with
Connection © fitted.
3. Refer to Fig. 82. Remove Cover ®, Pulley (
Set Plate ©, Bearing © in sequence of ©~(
r- Note:
Do not remove Screws ©©©© but loosen
them.
Loosen Screw © until it is out of the
positioning hole in the crankshaft.
4. Refer to Fig. 83 and remove Timing Belt ©.

1. Refer to Figs. 82, 83. Replace Timing Belt ©,
Bearing ©, Set Plate ®, Pulley ©, Cover ©
in the reverse way of removing.
—Note:
• When fixing Bearing ©, be sure to Screw
© set in the positioning hole of the
crankshaft.
• Re-tighten Screws ® and © after Screw
© is tightened.
2. Turn Pulley © and bring the looper to the
right dead point. Move the needle bar to the
lowest position by hand.
3. Keeping the above conditions, align the
mark <B of Belt Gear (Upper) © with the
mark © of Bearing ©. Tighten one of
Screws © tentatively. Place the edge of
Timing Belt © on Gear © and turn
Handwheel O, then Timing Belt © will be
in position. Tighten four Screws ©.
—Note:
• In the case of the machine equipped with the
metering device, replace Nut ©, Washer ©,
and Connection ©.
Be sure to keep the marks © and © aligned.
• If they are not aligned, the synchronization
of the needle bar and the looper is out of
order.
4. Turn Handwheel O and make sure that the
looper starts to move to the left from its
right dead point as the needle bar starts to
rise from its lowest position.
5. Make sure that the mark © on Handwheel ©
faces to the mark ® when the needle bar is
in its highest position.
6. Refer to Fig. 79. Replace Arm Top Cover O
and Oil Reservoir ©
