What to do if my Williams 1403622 Furnace won't shut off?
    • F
      Frederick DuranAug 18, 2025
If your furnace continues to run even after reaching the set temperature, there are several potential causes. First, the thermostat wiring may be defective, such as lead wires shorted together by a nail or staple. You can check this by removing the thermostat leads from the valve terminals. Also, the thermostat's location could be the issue. If it's on an outside wall or exposed to cold air, relocate it. The thermostat itself might be defective, so check its calibration or consider replacing it. Finally, dirt under the valve seat or a stuck-open valve can prevent the furnace from shutting off, in which case the valve should be replaced.

How to fix a pilot outage problem in Williams 1403622 Furnace?
    • J
      james52Aug 21, 2025
If you're experiencing pilot outages, first adjust the pilot flame, as it may be too low or blowing. Inspect the vent tube and air inlet tube. Ensure the pilot lighting door is closed properly. Also, the pilot orifice or aerating hole may be plugged; check for obstructions like spiders or webs. Additionally, check the control and pilot observation doors for broken or missing gaskets; clean and replace them if necessary.

Why is my Williams 1403622 Furnace pilot lit but no gas to the main burner?
    • S
      Samuel CruzAug 28, 2025
If the pilot light is on but the main burner isn't igniting, first ensure the gas valve is turned to the 'ON' position and the thermostat is set to call for heat. A plugged burner orifice can also prevent gas flow, so check, clean, or replace it as needed. Inspect the thermostat wires for proper connection or breaks, and test the thermostat by jumping across the terminals on the valve. Also, the pilot generator may not be generating sufficient millivolts to open the valve, check the pilot flame and clean connections at the valve. If these steps don't resolve the issue, the valve itself may be defective and require replacement.

Why is my Williams Furnace not producing enough heat?
    • J
      Joshua LloydAug 31, 2025
If your furnace isn't producing enough heat, it might be too small for the space you're trying to heat; check the heat calculations to confirm. Also, the furnace may not be burning at its full rate. Check for low gas pressure and inspect the burner orifice for any obstructions.

Why does my Williams Furnace turn off before reaching temperature?
    • C
      Carol RodriguezSep 4, 2025
If your furnace shuts off before the room reaches the set temperature, the thermostat's location could be the problem. Ensure it's not in the path of warm air from the furnace, near a lamp, or above heat-generating electronics. Also, the thermostat itself may be defective, so check its calibration or replace it.

Why does my Williams 1403622 burner turn on and off?
    • S
      snyderwilliamSep 7, 2025
If the burner turns on but then shuts off unexpectedly, check the vent tube and the air inlet tube to ensure they are properly installed according to the installation instructions. Make sure the joints are tight, both tubes are in place, and only the furnished tubes are used, without extending them beyond their original length. Also, the furnace may be overrated, so check for high pressure at the valve and verify the burner orifice.

How do I fix a noisy blower in my Williams 1403622 Furnace?
    • E
      Eugene TaylorSep 12, 2025
A noisy blower can be caused by several issues. If the housing is rattling, try tightening the blower screws. A dirty blower wheel can also cause noise, so clean it thoroughly. If the blower wheel is bent, attempt to straighten it or replace it if necessary.

Why won't the pilot light stay lit on my Williams 1403622 Furnace?
    • A
      Alexander FernandezNov 13, 2025
Several factors can cause the pilot light to go out. First, ensure the pilot flame fully impinges on the generator and that the generator is completely inserted in its bracket, and the pilot lighting door is tightly closed, as an insufficient generator output can cause this. Also, the generator itself may be defective; test it with a millivolt meter, ensuring a reading of 140 millivolts or higher at the valve terminals with the pilot burning and thermostat contacts closed. Loose or dirty connections at the gas valve can also be the culprit, so clean and tighten these. A grounded thermostat lead wire can also cause this issue; remove the thermostat lead wires to check for a ground within the thermostat wiring circuit, potentially caused by contact with the furnace, gas supply, or fasteners....
