What to do if pilot will not stay lit on Williams 3508232 Furnace?

If the pilot light on your Williams Furnace won't stay lit, several factors could be at play. First, ensure the pilot flame properly touches the thermocouple. A low or unstable flame might cause the safety to drop out. Check for obstructions like spider webs in the pilot orifice or aerating hole. Also, confirm the thermocouple is fully inserted in its bracket. Another potential cause is a loose or dirty thermocouple connection at the gas valve; try cleaning and tightening it. The thermocouple itself could be defective, and you may need to test it with a millivolt meter. If it generates less than 7 millivolts under load, replace it. In some cases, the thermomagnet pilot safety or the vent safety shutoff device might be faulty, requiring a check of wiring connections and venting.
