What to do if pilot will not stay lit on Williams 6508632?
    • B
      Brittany HughesAug 14, 2025
If the pilot light on your Williams Furnace won't stay lit, several factors could be at play. First, ensure the pilot flame properly touches the thermocouple. A low or unstable flame might cause the safety to drop out. Check for obstructions like spider webs in the pilot orifice or aerating hole. Also, confirm the thermocouple is fully inserted in its bracket. Another potential cause is a loose or dirty thermocouple connection at the gas valve; try cleaning and tightening it. The thermocouple itself could be defective, and you may need to test it with a millivolt meter. If it generates less than 7 millivolts under load, replace it. In some cases, the thermomagnet pilot safety or the vent safety shutoff device might be faulty, requiring a check of wiring connections and venting.

What to do if Williams Furnace burner comes on but goes off before blower?
    • B
      Beth GonzalesAug 21, 2025
If your Williams Furnace burner comes on but shuts off before the blower starts, the issue could stem from defective wiring or a faulty limit switch. Start by turning off the electrical power and inspecting the wiring inside the junction box and switch box, referring to the wiring diagram. If the wiring is correct, the limit switch might be defective. If the burner goes off in less than five minutes from a room temperature start, check the limit control switch and replace it if necessary. Also, consider if the motor is defective. For a 2-speed motor, use jumpers to test both low and high speeds. For a 1-speed motor, use a jumper to see if it rotates. Replace the motor if it doesn't work. Finally, if all else fails, the fan switch might be the culprit and should be replaced.

Why Williams 6508632 operates but turns off too soon?
    • V
      Valerie LopezAug 25, 2025
If your Williams Furnace operates but shuts off before the room reaches the set temperature, the thermostat might be defective. Check the thermostat calibration or consider replacing it.

What causes Williams Furnace to not shut off?
    • M
      Michael ZimmermanAug 27, 2025
If your Williams Furnace continues to run even after the room reaches the set temperature, there are a few potential causes. First, check the thermostat wiring from the furnace to the thermostat for any shorts, such as those caused by a nail or staple. The thermostat's location can also be a factor; if it's on an outside wall or exposed to cold air, relocate it. Finally, an improper thermostat anticipator setting can cause this issue; refer to the THERMOSTAT ANTICIPATOR on page 20 for proper adjustment.

What to do if Williams 6508632 Furnace has no spark and no pilot gas?
    • L
      Laura ShafferAug 31, 2025
If your Williams Furnace shows no spark and no pilot gas, begin by checking the main power supply, transformer, thermostat, and limit switch. Replace any faulty components. With power ON, turn the thermostat to the lowest setting, wait 10 seconds, and return it to the HIGH setting. With power ON and the thermostat at its highest position, use a voltmeter set to the 24V scale to check terminals "TR" and "TH" on the ignition control unit. If you read 24V and there is still no spark or pilot gas, the ignition control is defective and needs replacement. Also, check the wiring for any faults and repair or replace as needed.

What to do if Williams Furnace pilot is lit but main burner won't come on?
    • I
      Isaiah HessSep 3, 2025
If the pilot light is on, but the main burner won't ignite on your Williams Furnace, a possible cause is a low pilot flame. Ensure the pilot flame and sensor are properly aligned, with the flame touching the top 3/4 inch of the sensor. Make sure the sensor is fully inserted into the pilot bracket and adjust the pilot flame if needed. Also, check the inlet supply pressure and pilot orifice. If the pilot hood or sensor is bent, replace the defective unit. If the main burner still doesn't ignite, ensure the main burner orifices are clear. If they are, use a voltmeter set to 24V to check the terminals of the main gas operator on the gas valve (terminals "MV", "PV/MV"). If you read 24V and the burner still won't turn on, replace the entire gas valve.

What to do if Williams 6508632 Furnace has spark but no pilot gas?
    • A
      Alexander WashingtonSep 6, 2025
If your Williams Furnace has a spark but no pilot gas, the issue might be a lack of gas supply to the pilot valve. Check for gas availability at the gas control and ensure the manual valve (gas cock) is fully in the ON position. Also, check the pilot tubing for any blockages and inspect the pilot adjustment at the gas control.

If your Williams Furnace has pilot gas but no spark, the ignition control might be faulty. Turn the thermostat to its lowest setting, wait 10 seconds, and then return it to the highest setting. With power ON and the thermostat set high, use a voltmeter set to the 24V scale to check terminals "24V" (*TH) and "GRD" (*TR) on the ignition control unit. If you read 24V and there's still no spark, the ignition control is defective and must be replaced.

What to do if main burner will not come on in Williams 6508632 Furnace?
    • P
      Patricia JacksonNov 17, 2025
If the main burner in your Williams Furnace won't ignite, even with the pilot lit and the thermostat set for heat, there are several potential causes. First, ensure the gas valve is turned to the 'ON' position. If there's still no gas flow, check if the furnace is receiving electric power. If power is present but there's no gas flow, the low voltage transformer or limit switch might be defective. Check for 24 volts at the transformer's low voltage terminals. If there's no voltage, turn off the power, disconnect a wire from the limit switch, and check for continuity across its terminals; replace the switch if there's no continuity. If voltage is present at the transformer, the wall thermostat could be defective. With the thermostat set for heat, check for voltage at the gas valve terminals;...
