Watercraft Safety: A knowledgeable and responsible driver is the most important safety device on any watercraft.
• Neveroperateawatercraft,skiorrideundertheinfluenceofalcoholordrugs.
• Onlyusewaterballastandpeopleforadditionalweight.
• Neverexceedthepassengerorweightlimitationsofthewatercraft.
• Neverallowpassengerstohangoutsidethewatercraftortoweddeviceorsitonthegunwalesor
anywhere outside of the normal seating area.
• Neverallowwatertooverflowtheboworgunwalesofthewatercraft.
• Unevenweightdistributionoradditionalweightmayaffectthehandlingofthewatercraft.
Carbon Monoxide:TheexhaustfromtheengineonawatercraftcontainsCarbonMonoxide(CO)whichisa
colorless,odorlessandpoisonousgas.ExcessiveexposuretoCOcancausesevereinjuryordeath.Followthis
advice to avoid injury.
• Never“PlatformDrag”byholdingontotheboardingplatformorbedraggeddirectlybehindthewatercraft.
This is where CO will be.
• Donotsitonthewatercrafttransomorboardingplatformwhiletheengineisrunning.
• Makesuretheengineisproperlytunedandrunningwell.Animproperlytunedengineproducesexcessive
exhaustandCO.
• Ifyousmellengineexhaustdonotstayinthatposition.

protect yourself and others from the dangers of CO.
Tow Ropes: Tow ropes come in different lengths and strengths for different activities. Make sure any rope you
are using is suited for skiing or riding and that it is in good condition.
• Neverusearopethatisfrayed,knotted,unravelingordiscoloredfromuseorbeingleftinthesun.Ifarope
breaks while in use it can recoil at the skier/rider being towed or into the watercraft where it might strike
passengers. Replace tow ropes with any sign of damage.
• Neveruseatowropewithelasticorbungeematerialtopullskiersorriders.
• Ropeshouldbeattachedtothewatercraftinanapprovedfashionwithhardwaredesignedfortowing.Refer
to your Boat User’s manual for instructions on proper tow rope attachment for each watersports activity.
• Alwayskeeppeopleandtowropesawayfromthepropeller,evenwhenidling.
• Ifatowropeshouldbecomeentangledinapropeller,shutoffengine,removethekeyandputitinyour
pocket before retrieving the rope.
• Towropesshouldbeneatlystowedintheboatwhennotinuse.
Preparing to ski or ride: Always have a person other than the driver as an observer to look out for the skier/rider.
• Besurethedriverisawareoftheexperienceandabilityleveloftheskier/rider.
• Thedriver,observerandskier/riderneedtoagreeonhandsignalsbeforeskiingorriding.Signalsshould
include READY, STOP, SPEED UP, and SLOW DOWN.
• Starttheengineonlyaftermakingsurethatnooneinthewaterisnearthepropeller.
• Turntheengineoffwhenpeoplearegettingintooroutofthewatercraft,orinthewaternearthewatercraft.
• Alwaysmakesurethetowropeisnotwrappedaroundanyone’shands,arms,legs,orotherpartsofthebody.
• Startthewatercraftandmoveslowlytoremoveslackuntilthetowropeistight.
• Whentheskier/ridersignalsREADYandthereisnotrafficahead,takeoffinastraightline.Adjustthespeed
according to the signals given by the skier/rider.
Skiing or Riding: The watercraft and skier/rider should always maintain a sufficient distance from obstacles so a
skier/rider falling or coasting and/or watercraft will not encounter any obstacle.
• Donotuseinshallowwaterornearshore,docks,pilings,swimmers,otherwatercraft,oranyotherobstacles.
• Useonlyonwater.
• Neverattemptlandordockstarts.Thiswillincreaseyourriskofinjuryordeath.
• Alwayswearaproperlyfittedlifejacket(PFD)approvedbyyourcountry’sagency,USCGTypeIII,ISO,etc.
• Thefasteryouskiorride,thegreateryourriskofinjury.
• Nevermakesharpturnsthatmaycauseaslingshoteffectontheskier/rider’sspeed.
• Skier/Ridershouldbetowedatanappropriatespeedfortheirabilitylevel.
Fallen skier or rider: Falling and injuries are common in skiing or riding.
• Circleafallenskier/riderslowlytoreturnthetowropehandleorpickupthefallenskier/rider.
• Putthewatercraftinneutralwhennearafallenskier/rider.
• Alwayskeepthefallenskier/riderinviewandonthedriver’ssideofthewatercraft.
• Displayaredororangeskier-downflagtoalertothervesselsthataskier/riderisdown.
WARNING! SPOTTERS NOTICE:
• Alwaysuseaspotter(observer)intheboattocommunicatetheneedsoftheridertothedriver.
• Thespottermustbetheeyesofthedriverandtherider,alwaysalerttorecognizepossibledangersoproper
action can be taken to avoid any risks to the rider.
• Ifthetowableoverturns,theboat/watercraftdrivershouldnotexceed5mph(8km/h)untilthetowable
is upright again.
• Thespottershouldholdupasafetyflagcautioningallotherboatersthatridersareinthewater.

agetensilestrengthforpulling5or6peopleonaninflatabletube.Thetowropeshouldbeatleast50feet(15.24
meters)inlengthbutnotexceed65feet(19.81meters).
• Onlyusethisproductwitharesponsibleboat/watercraftoperatorwhoknowshowtoeffectivelyoperate
the equipment.

that abover your skill level and learning curve. Use good common sense to prevent serious injury at all times.

• ALWAYSturnignitionoffwhenanyoneisnearwatercraftpowerdriveunit

• NEVER“PlatformDrag”ortouchswimplatformwhiletheengineisrunning
• NEVERskiorridenearswimmers,shallowwater,otherboats,orobstacles

WATERSPORTS SAFETY CODE:
Before you get in the water: Skiing or riding instruction is recommended before use. Instruction will teach general
safety guidelines and proper skiing or riding techniques, which may reduce your risk of injury. For more information
on skiing or riding schools, contact your dealer, Association, or local ski club.
• Knowthefederal,stateandlocallawsthatapplytoyourarea.
• Ifyouarenotfamiliarwithawaterway,asksomeonewhois,totellyouaboutanyhidden
dangers or things to avoid.
• Whetheryouplantobeinawatercraft,orskiing/ridingbehindoneitisimportantyouarewearinga
properly fitted life jacket (PFD) approved by your country’s agency, USCG Type III, ISO, etc.
• Inspectallequipmentpriortoeachuse,checkbindings,fins,tube,attachment,towropeandflotationdevice.
